Study the Blood spatter animation from the following link and answer the questions.



1. What happens to blood from an open wound or when it is present in sufficient amount on a surface? What are the two things that will play the biggest role in pulling that blood drop away from the surface? Explain.

2. Explain the ‘passive drop’. What happens to the blood droplet as it pulls away from the object?

3. Briefly discuss the four phases that can be seen in the reaction of a moving droplet with impact against a surface. (Your answer must include sketches.)

4. Define angle of impact. What happens to the shape of the blood stain as the angle of impact gets lower and lower? Discuss.
