Plan, prepare, and submit computer documents, flyers, charts, graphs, and reports as requested. ? Assist with compilation of district newsletters. ? Pupil Accounting Auditor duties include: ? Provide Pupil Accounting Auditing Services to all local districts within the Huron ISD. ? Conduct desk and field audits of student enrollment numbers reported by local educational

authorities (LEA) within Huron ISD to ensure accuracy and compliance with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) pupil accounting reporting requirements and to maximize FTE count and related school aid funding.

Pupil Accounting Audits as required by MDE include and are not limited to, Fall and Spring Pupil Count Days, Schools of Choice/Section 105c, Graduation Dropout/Exit Status, WorkBased Learning Experiences/On-The-Job (OJT), Teacher Certification, Section 25e Pupil Membership Transfer Requests, Teacher Student Data Link (TSDL), Days and Clock Hours Report, and additional audits are required by MDE.

? Responsible for providing consultation, support, and training services to LEA staff. ? Reconcile school enrollment totals, identify issues, and implement corrective action for

problems found during audit. ? Conduct research necessary to resolve reconciliation issues. ? Prepare written report of audit findings. ? Communicate with LEA staff regarding audit findings and recommend plans to correct areas

found to be out of compliance and/or improve pupil accounting processes. ? Identify potential student duplicates within Huron ISD, as well as the State of Michigan;

initiate action necessary to resolve the issue. ? Verify and interpret various computer or manually produced attendance enrollment and

program reports. ? Provide consultation and assistance to LEA staff in interpretation of MDE pupil accounting

policies/procedures and development and implementation of pupil accounting processes. ? Plan and conduct training and in-services for LEA staff on maintaining accurate enrollment

and attendance records, reporting procedures, and a variety of other pupil accounting issues. ? Work cooperatively and maintain communication with department staff, LEA staff, and MDE to resolve problems and exchange information. ? Work cooperatively with MDE and others on improvement and changes affecting pupil accounting. ? Maintain current knowledge of legal mandates and government systems impacting pupil accounting and related school aid funding; communicate changes to LEA staff to ensure maximization of FTE count. ? Maintains Pupil Accounting webpage on Huron ISD website to include forms and resources. ? Provide daily support via telephone, email, and direct contact. ? ? Investigate student attendance referrals through coordination with court-appointed County Truant Officers and enforce provisions of the Michigan Compulsory Attendance Laws.

? Prepare warning letters to parents/guardians and students in accordance with Michigan Compulsory Attendance Laws, Huron County Truancy Protocols, and local school board policy. Provide explanation of mandatory attendance law and consequences of violations in communication with students and parents.

? Implement and comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Michigan Compulsory Attendance Laws, Huron County Truancy Protocols, and local school policy in the area of student attendance.

? Communicate with school administrators and staff regarding findings and plan of action. ? Develop and maintain cooperative working relationship with court administrative staff,

Juvenile Officers, Court Referees, and judges within the jurisdiction of Huron County. ? Initiate legal proceedings to enforce compulsory attendance laws; gather necessary

documentation of Truancy and Educational Neglect cases; and present to the Prosecuting Attorney to request a Petition be filed against parent/guardian and/or student. ? Attend court hearings and trials related to Truancy and Educational Neglect cases, as needed. District administrator must represent school.
