Global Financial Controller

Acadian Asset Management LLC is a Boston-headquartered investment management firm with wholly owned affiliates located in Singapore, London, Tokyo and Sydney. As of June 30, 2017, the firm managed approximately US$87 billion on behalf of major pension funds, endowments, foundations, governments and other investors based in the U.S. and abroad.

Position Overview:

The Financial Controller role oversees the Corporate Finance Department and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The Corporate Finance Department is responsible for all financial transactions and financial reporting of the firm; including the consolidation of foreign subsidiaries, partnership accounting and tax reporting for the Acadian equity plan, and reporting to its parent company. The role is responsible for determining the strategic initiatives, defining policies, and procedures in order to support the accounting, tax, and financial reporting of a global firm. The role will oversee a finance staff located in Boston as well as staff in the non-U.S. affiliates.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee internal financial controls and ensure they mitigate risks appropriately

• Oversee the financial consolidation on a monthly basis; prepare monthly management reports and analysis; Prepare and update forecasts monthly

• Prepare budget by working with senior management

• Evaluate and provide financial analysis of strategic initiatives

• Oversee year-end financial audit for all corporate entities; liaise with parent company financial and tax staff

• Maintain or oversee the preparation of partnership books and records, and tax-related work of the Acadian equity plan; respond to partner inquiries

• Manage ad hoc projects required to automate accounting functions; ensure that there are adequate written policies, procedures, and controls of all accounting functions

• Maintain and file FATCA reports and GIIN registrations with IRS, Cayman Islands, and other applicable jurisdictions

• Approve check and wire transfers

• Respond to tax authority inquiries; maintain transfer pricing analysis

• Train and develop staff

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required

• 10-15 years of experience in public/private accounting with investment management industry expertise; experience in a similar role as a controller in private company or an audit manager in public accounting firms

• Knowledge of complex financial instruments and the ability to establish projections, budgets and effective controls to minimize risk and safeguard the assets of the business

• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills

• Knowledge of international accounting standards

• Ability to perform complex performance-based fee calculations independently

• Team player who can assist in growing the business

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; hands-on, able to multi-task and think outside the box
