BOSTON AREA MG CLUB

2009 Faneuil Hall Car Show Series

INFORMATION SHEET

The Boston Area MG Club has been invited to host a series of car shows at the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Marketplace in Boston. After much work with the Faneuil Hall management company, the merchant association and the City of Boston, we have been able to schedule three marque-specific shows for the 2009 season…

June 13: Jaguar / MG / Triumph

July 18: Mini / MG / Rover / Land Rover

August 29: Special Interest / Pot Luck

Space for these shows is free, strictly limited and on an invitation only basis. While this is a great opportunity to showcase your car and club to a whole new audience, there are a number of requirement that you must be aware of and agree to before we can accept your car. We have put together this Info Sheet to answer your questions and give you a better understanding of what is required.

1. This is an invitation only show. You must apply and be accepted to show your car. Please fill out the Application Form and email it back to one of the Show Contacts. (It is also available electronically on our web site .)

2. If you are accepted to one of the events, we ask that you give us a serious commitment to attend. Because we have a very limited number of spaces, no-shows will greatly diminish the event.

3. This is an up close and personal show, being held in a very high traffic area. You can expect a lot of public interest, photos and interactions. This is not an appropriate venue for concourse cars or stuffy owners. We want you to “sell” your car, your club and enjoy all the attention. We also request that there be no “For Sale” signs on the vehicles.

4. The City of Boston and Faneuil Hall requires us to keep Fire Lanes and pedestrian walkways clear at all times. There will be space for you to set up chairs behind your cars.

5. The Quincy Market area is a great family destination with lots to do during the show. We do, however, require that there be at least one person (capable of moving the car in the event of an emergency) with the car at all times.

6. Clubs are encouraged to participate and will be given space in our Event Tent to greet the public and distribute their club literature (as space permits). Space may be available for a club to bring their own tent. Please talk to one of the Show Contacts.

7. All cars will enter and leave the show field as a group and must stay until the end of the event at 3:00 PM. It is logistically difficult and dangerous to move cars with large numbers of pedestrians around.

8. All cars will stage at the corner of State Street and Merchant’s Row (see useful links at the end) and should plan to arrive between 8:00 – 8:30 AM. You must be there no later than 8:30! Security will open the gates on Merchant’s Row by 9:00 at the latest and we will be escorted as a group onto the plaza. No late-comer cars will be allowed on the plaza after Security closes the gates, no exceptions.

9. There are no ground clearance issues with the entrance or the plaza. It is quite flat.

10. Cars arriving on trailers pose a special problem due to parking and loading concerns. Please contact the BAMG staff to discuss possible considerations

11. Please follow the directions of both the BAMG Staff and Faneuil Hall Security. They are there to help you and insure the safety of both the cars and the public. Volunteers from other clubs are welcome.

12. In the event of bad weather, the rain date will be on SUNDAY. Please be sure you are available for both days and that we have all your contact info to keep you informed.

13. By participating in this show, you agree that this is strictly a voluntary event and that you agree to hold the BAMG, Faneuil Hall and all related organizations harmless for any and all damages that may occur.

We appreciate your interest in this very special event and hope that you can take advantage of this great opportunity to showcase your car to both auto enthusiasts and the general public alike. We expect a great amount of interest that only one of Boston’s premier tourist destinations can provide.
