Dear Parents,Calling all Douglas County Road Runners to sign up for this race supporting one of our local families in a great cause!What: The Pink Santa Hat RunWhen: Saturday, October, 12th Where: The Douglas County High School Campus- 8705 Campbellton St. Douglasville, GaRace Distance: 5k and 1mile- New this year - All 1 mile fun run finishers will receive a pink finisher ribbon and the first 50 milers to sign up will receive a Pink Santa Hat.Start Time: 5k-8:30 am, 1 mile-9:15 (this is for kids 10 and under)Who Benefits? The Pink Santa Hat Movement provides educators who are fighting breast cancer with an opportunity to lift their spirits through hope, support and fellowship. This year the organization will honor 15 educators who are battling breast cancer with a weekend of pampering and inspiration. How Did This Begin? The initiative began after Elise Dunnigan Bethel (wife of Casey Bethel and mother of young twins) was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer in 2015, as a way to raise awareness of this dreadful disease. In August 2018, Elise lost her battle, making this cause even nearer and dearer to the Bethel and Dunnigan and Wright family’s hearts.*The Pink Santa Hat Movement will continue forward in Elise’s honor to celebrate her life and promote her legacy while also honoring and celebrating other phenomenal women in education fighting breast cancer.*The 2019 honorees will be flown to Atlanta where they will stay at a beautiful hotel, be showered with gifts, have spa treatments, a shopping spree, a photo shoot, inspirational programs and more.How Can You Help? You and your family can sign up and walk/run the race, if you are out of town there is a virtual race option, you can sponsor the race, you can purchase limited edition merchandise or you can make a tax deductible donation in the name of a loved one.
