(There are other longer videos available which go more in depth. His story is quite compelling!)Means Matter?provides information about how reducing a suicidal person’s access to highly lethal means is an important part of suicide prevention.??Safeguard Your Home - A Guide to Youth Suicide Prevention at Home?- A brochure created by Winnebago County Health Department??Drug Drop-off Locations in Fond du Lac CountyCounseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM)?a free online course about how to reduce access to the methods people use to kill themselves. It covers who needs lethal means counseling and how to work with people at risk for suicide—and their families—to reduce access. It's designed for clinicians but helpful for anyone who works with those at risk of suicide. I've attached two handouts from the training that summarize some of the key points.? ?Suicide Safety Plan?(Apple?&?Android) and?Virtual Hope Box?(Apple?&?Android) are both great options that can be recommended to people who would benefit from having a safety plan. To learn more about?safety planning?in general you can go to:? another app that allows an individual in distress to quickly connect with pre-identified trusted contacts.?Language Matters: Committed Suicide vs. Completed Suicide vs. Died by Suicide?Again, feel free to reach out with any questions, or if you know of other groups who are interested in having a training.?Note: Sometimes I will attach their certificate of completion.
