The first information about military service comes from notes in the Old Historical Society. They state that, in about l754-55, Jasiel Smith, Sr. and his three sons, Jasiel, Jr. (later known as Lt. Jasiel), Elkanah and Cornelius, took part in the French and Indian War, being gone some 15-16 months. ................
