General Theory:

This document contains step-by-step instructions on how to configure Confidential printing on a Lexmark printer. This procedure will work on printers starting with the T520 series.

Detailed Instructions:

1. Open multi-page document you wish to print.

2. Macintosh Platform

1. Select /File/Print of Command +P.

2. Click the counter-arrows for the Copies & Pages setting and change to “Job Routing”.

3. Select “Confidential”.

4. Enter a Username.

5. Enter a PIN #.

6. Click the counter-arrows for Presets and select “Save As…”.

7. In the Save Preset As: textbox enter Confidential and click the “OK” button.

8. When printing subsequent documents select the Standard or Confidential preset as desired.

9. Click the “Print” button.

10. When you go to the printer to retrieve your print job, press the “Held Jobs” button.

11. Select the appropriate Username button.

12. Press the “Confidential” button.

13. Enter your “PIN #” as configured in Step 2.5.

14. Press the “Login” button.

15. Press the “Print” button.

3. Windows Platform

1. Select /File/Print of Ctrl +P.

2. Click the “Properties” button.

3. On the “Other Options” tab, click the “Print and Hold” button.

4. Select the “Confidential” button and click the “OK” button.

5. Enter a Username or accept the username as entered.

6. Enter a PIN #.

7. Click the “OK” button.

8. Click the “OK” button.

9. When you go to the printer to retrieve your print job, press the “Held Jobs” button.

10. Select the appropriate Username button.

11. Press the “Confidential” button.

12. Enter your “PIN #” as configured in Step 3.6.

13. Press the “Login” button.

14. Press the “Print” button.

4. Configure the Printer’s Confidential Print Setup settings.

1. Launch a browser application and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar.

2. Click the Configuration tab.

3. From the “Other Settings” list, click “Security”.

4. Click “Confidential Print Setup”.

5. Set the Max Invalid PIN range to 3. This will delete a confidential print job if the end-user enters an invalid PIN three times.

6. Click the counter-arrow and set the Job Expiration to 24 hours. Options include: Off, 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours, and 1 week.

7. NOTE: when turning off the printer, upon restart you will be prompted to Delete or Retain confidential print jobs still in memory.
