Step 1 - Check if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows XPClick Start, right- click My Computer then click PropertiesGo to the General tab and look at the System section:- if Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears, it’s a 32-bit version system- if Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears, it’s a 64-bit systemIn the example below it’s a 32-bit version. Make a note of this and close the window using the cross (X) in the top right corner. Step 2 - Check if you are an Administrator on the computerClick Start then on Control PanelClick on User Accounts Check for your user account name, if Computer Administrator is displayed under your account name (see screenshot below), you can move onto step 3 of the installation processIf your account name says Limited Account you will need to ask the administrator of the computer to login and change your access to an administrator (they will need to click on the user account, select Change the account type, click Computer administrator to select then click Change account type).Step 3 - Remove any existing Passport software Close any internet browser windows that you have open before startingClick Start then Control PanelDouble click on Add or Remove Programs You now need to remove all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix - simply select the program you want to remove by clicking on it, click Remove then Yes to confirmWhen you have removed all versions of Java, Juniper and Citrix, click the cross (X) in the top right corner.NB. If you leave any internet browser windows open while removing these programs, you may see a message asking you to ‘quit other applications before continuing the installation’ (even though you are removing a program). Either close the browser and then click Retry, or click Ignore then select Close Browsers and Continue.Step 4 - Run the Registery Cleaner Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste into the address bar, then hit the Enter key on your keyboardClick Run then Run againClick Yes A message will be displayed confirming the Citrix Registery has been cleaned successfully, click OK Close all programs and restart your machine.If Registery Cleaner is unable to remove the Citrix folder from Program files, you can do this from the C drive.Right-click on Start then click on ExploreOpen the Program Files folderRight-click on Citrix folder and click DeleteClick Yes to delete.Also check under the Common Files folder for a Citrix folder and if found, right-click on the Citrix folder and then click Delete.If this doesn’t work, you can download Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from - click the Download button and save it on your computer by right-clicking on the file, then on Run as Administrator.Step 5 – Update Firefox settingsNB. Before you update Firefox settings you need to ensure that Java has been removed.Open Firefox, click on Tools then OptionsThe Options window will open, go to the Content tab and in the Block pop-up windows section click Exceptions The Allowed Sites – Pop-ups window will open, copy and paste *..uk into the Address of website field and click AllowRepeat with – both addresses should now show in the box below under the Site heading with a status of Allow, click CloseYou will be returned to the Options window, go to the Security tab and click on the Exceptions button next to Warn me when sites try to install add-ons The Allowed Sites – add-ons Installation window will open, copy and paste *.uk into the Address of website field and click Allow, repeat with passport..uk – both addresses will move into the box below under the Site heading with a status of Allow, click CloseYou will be returned to the Options window, click OKStep 6 - Download and install JavaOpen Firefox, copy and paste into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboard, click Free Java DownloadClick Agree and Start Free DownloadThe Opening jxpiinstall.exe window will open, click on Save FileClick on the arrow in the top right corner then double click on jxpiinstall.exeAn Open Executable File? message will be displayed, click OKA warning message will be displayed, Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click RunThe Java Setup – Welcome window will open, click InstallA further two security warning messages will be displayed, click Run for bothA Java Setup window will open, if you If you are asked if you want to install any software (such as McAfee) or Browser add-ons, un-tick the box and click Next (you may have to do this a couple of times)When Java has finished installing, you will see a You have successfully installed Java message, click CloseYou will be taken to a page to verify Java, click on Verify Java version pageA Do you want to run this application message will be displayed, click RunA ‘congratulations’ message will be displayed once Java download is complete.Step 7 - Disable Java Deployment Toolkit in FirefoxOpen Firefox and click on Tools then Add-onsThe Add-ons Manager window will open, click PluginsFind Java Deployment Toolkit in the list and then click on the drop down arrow against Ask to Activate and select Never ActivateClose the tab.Step 8 - Download and install Citrix Receiver for WindowsOpen Firefox, copy and paste into the address bar and hit the enter key on your keyboardTick the Windows box and then click Detect my device and install ReceiverClick Download Receiver for WindowsA Security Alert will appear, click Yes (nb this alert can sometimes be hidden behind other screens, check the task bar for a box saying ‘security alert’ if you can’t see it)Tick the box against I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement and then click ContinueAn Opening CitrixReceiverWeb.exe window will appear, click Save File Wait for the download to complete (progress is shown next to the ‘Home’ symbol)Once the download is complete, click on the download arrow then double-click on CitrixReceiverWeb.exeAn Open Executable File? Message will be displayed, click OKA security warning will open, click RunFind Citrix Receiver on the task bar and click on it, the Citrix Receiver window will open, click on InstallThe Citrix Receiver window will display a progress bar, this will close when installation is complete, you should now see a Citrix Receiver icon on your task bar.Step 9 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software)Go to Internet Explorer, copy and paste this URL into the address bar and hit the Enter key on your keyboardType in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign InNB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT () The webpage will say Loading Components, wait for the next screen to load (do not click on Click here to continue, wait for the next screen to appear) An Opening JuniperSetupClientInstaller.exe window will open, click Save File Click on the download arrow in the top right of the screen, then double-click on JuniperSetupClientInstaller.exeAn Open Executable File? window will open, click OKJuniper will install and a progress bar will show, once installation is complete click the Close buttonOnce your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver Security warning box.
