ABOUT THIS PROGRAM OF STUDY

The Business Management program of studies will prepare you for a career in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations. Career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy and require specific skills in organization, time management, customer service and communication. The business management and administration services industry, one of the highest paying industries, is projected to be one of the fastest growing through the year 2020. Nearly half of all jobs are in managerial and professional occupations, and nearly one-fourth of all workers are self-employed – you can be your own boss!

The Business Management occupation group is projected to grow by 12% in Tennessee between 2014 and 2022. Job opportunities are strongest in areas of Shelby and Davidson Counties, around the metropolitan areas of Memphis and Nashville respectively, though there is strong potential for openings in other counties in the upper mid Cumberland area. Occupations from this program of studies with the greatest number of average annual openings include supervisors of office and administrative workers, business operations specialists, and management analysts.
