The Post

The role of Business Development Associate is pivotal to the successful delivery of the Apprenticeship and Work Based Learning full cost, NVQ and commercial sales targets.

The role is key in co-ordinating and supporting the links between the college and employers. The role will involve working with employers to match our existing curriculum plan targets with the employer needs as identified during the Organisational Needs Analysis. Working with a portfolio of existing business and identifying new business to ensure that employer and College needs are met and maintain relationships to ensure repeat business levels are high. Where applicable this may also include relationships with third party providers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

a) Establish and further develop a portfolio of Employers and partners that will enable the College to meet its financial sales targets and objectives.

b) Act as a single point of contact for designated accounts.

c) Maximise sales opportunities with all employers engaged with.

d) Promote cross college provision with specific focus on Apprenticeships, Traineeships and full cost provision.

e) Negotiate contract terms within agreed parameters and follow through with appropriate documentation.

f) Conduct and document formalised service review meetings with designated accounts.

g) Liaise with colleagues to ensure that accurate records are maintained and effectively used to support the activity that have been agreed with Employers

h) Contribute towards the quality assurance aspect of the College policies and systems

i) Liaise with the College delivery teams and employers to ensure that customer requirements are delivered and achieved

j) Comply with the requirements of the Common Inspection Framework 2015

k) Raise levels of retention, achievement, progression and job opportunities for all customers

l) Update the CRM system accurately and timely for all employer interventions

m) Work flexibly and effectively to maintain highest professional standards and practices.

n) Understand and utilise the range of funding resources available to the College

o) Participate in the areas Self-Assessment Report and the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Other Responsibilities

a) To identify the financial, health and safety, equality, confidentiality or other risks associated with the post’s sphere of responsibility and to define and take positive action to manage these risks.

b) To comply with the College’s own safeguarding policy and practices, and work in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education Statutory Guidance for Schools and Colleges. To attend relevant and associated training as requested.

c) To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques and attend relevant mandatory training.

d) To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the College and demonstrate the core values expected of Stoke on Trent College employees. Carrying out all duties in the context of the practical application of the College’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

e) To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.

TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR EDUCATION BUSINESS SERVICES (STOKE) LTD

The post is offered on an Education Business Services (Stoke) Ltd contract.

Conditions of Appointment

All appointments are offered subject to a period of probationary service up to twelve months, during which time performance will be assessed. In addition, all appointments are subject to:

• medical review

• verification of relevant qualifications

• receipt of references considered suitable by the Company

• a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure check

Working Hours

The standard full time working week for all staff is 37 hours.

Holidays

Education Business Services (Stoke) Ltd staff are entitled to 30 days of annual leave per year inclusive of public bank holidays. This includes any days which are designated by the Company (e.g., between Christmas and New Year). Annual leave entitlement will increase to 32 days plus 8 bank holidays with effect from 1st September 2018 (40 days in total). There are a number of directed leave days each academic year and these are set out in the College Calendar. Typically these directed leave days will be during Christmas, Easter and in the summer period where the College will close its sites in the interested of efficiency.

Staff Parking

Free and generous parking space is available on site subject to availability at peak times.

Salary Payments

Salary is paid by direct credit transfer to your bank or building society account in 12 equal parts. Payment is made on the 27th day of each month or the next working day thereafter.

Notice Periods

The amount of notice you are required to give and entitled to receive is 1 months. Fixed term appointments may be offered with a notice period of one week, depending upon the length of the fixed term. The notice period applicable during a probationary period is 1 week.

Location of Work

Your principal place of work will be at the site given in the job description of the post. However, you may be required to work on either temporary or indefinite basis, at any premises at which the Company may from time to time provide services.
