ASU Catalog Description: Topics in business analysis, including: Lagrange multipliers, linear programming, linear algebra, intermediate probability, random variables, discrete distributions, and continuous distributions.

Prerequisites: MAT 210, MAT 251, MAT 265, or MAT 270 with C or better.

Textbook: MAT 210/211 Brief Calculus and Mathematics for Business Analysis by Waner and Costenoble, published by CENGAGE Learning, custom edition for ASU. An Electronic textbook is available through WebAssign. It can be used instead of the hard copy: Finite Mathematics and Applied Calculus by Waner and Costenoble, 6th ed,. published by CENGAGE Learning. (Note: The e-book does not give access to a few sections, but a link to the missing sections is available at my website math.asu.edu/~dheckman under the MAT 211 link near the bottom of the page.)

Calculators: A graphing calculator is required for this course. A TI-83 or TI-84 is highly recommended.  Other models and makes such as TI-85, TI-86, Casio 9750G, or 9850GB+ are also suitable. Calculators with QWERTY keyboards or those that do symbolic algebra, such as TI-89, TI-92, Ti-nspire CAS, Casio FX2 or Casio 9970G may not be used during exams.

Course Withdrawal Deadline: July 21, 2015

Complete Withdrawal Deadline: August 11, 2015

Verification of Withdrawal: If a student chooses to withdraw (drop) from the class, it's the student's responsibility to verify that he/she has in fact withdrawn. The instructor will not drop the student, so such students will receive the grade of EN.

Grading: The breakdown is as follows:

• 3 exams for a total of 75% (25% each)

• WebAssign Homework 25%

Grading Scale: A+ >97%, A 93-97%, A- 90-93%, B+ 87-90%, B 83-87%, B- 80-83%, C+ 77-80%, C 70-77%, D 60-70%, E ................
