Hello, My name is Charles McColgan and I am the Director General for Marine Services and Small Vessels contracting at Public Services and Procurement Canada and I am delighted to be addressing you today. It has been some time since we last met and we have been very much looking forward to this engagement at Mari-Tech 2021.? You will see from the outlook presentations that there is much information to update you on and we trust the information will be useful. At a high level, our goals for this year’s Mari-tech presentations are the following:Provide actionable information to you Reach out to as broad an audience as possibleDo our very best to be interactive in this session despite the limitations of virtual meetingsEnsure you are fully aware of the follow on G2B and B2B sessions that will be conducted in early May to help networking and advancement of the Federal Governments program of work.So now let me turn to the Industry Community specifically, in attendance today.Over a year into the pandemic, the initial shock, has passed, and we have seen innovation and several of you ‘pivot’ in order to adjust to the reality of working during this challenging time.? There is a new ‘business as usual paradigm’ that is evolving from the pandemic and the full impacts of it are still not well understood.? But, we have seen innovation, we have seen many of you overcoming challenges to your supply chains, and we see the challenges you have moving key technical personnel between jurisdictions, we have seen you introduce significant new cleaning regimens, and many other adaptations to keep your workforce safe.? It is impressive the level of operations that have been maintained by all of you during the pandemic and for all this we are most grateful and say a big ‘thank you’. Quite frankly, considering all the challenges you have been through during this last year, the resultant productivity you have been able to maintain has been very, very, impressive.? Now switching back to what the Government is doing,Because of the disruption caused by the pandemic, the Government of Canada’s efforts have been to, wherever possible, ensure the continued flow of business, RFPs, contracts, keep flowing as we understand the impact the pandemic has had on commercial bookings.? At the end of the day, Canada has critical operational requirements that did not disappear because of the pandemic and we count on your capacity to help us support them. You are going to receive today outlook presentations from key partner departments in the Federal Government to help you align and prepare for upcoming business opportunities. ?You will also receive an update on some of the innovations being undertaken in cyber, environmental/green, and other domains.I have a specific public service announcement to share with you regarding buy and sell, the portal through which we conduct our business with you.Last year PSPC introduced CanadaBuys, a new suite of online procurement services that will change the way business will be conducted with the Government of Canada. The system has been successfully used to support essential procurements in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now being progressively deployed for all procurements conducted by PSPC. This summer, we are launching a new online tendering service on CanadaBuys to replace the BuyandSell.gc.ca/tenders portal you currently go to find opportunities such as RFPs. The new tendering service was designed with suppliers to make it easier for you to find and understand government opportunities. So listen to me carefully, I encourage all suppliers to visit CanadaBuys.Canada.ca to get registered, check out helpful guides and videos, and to connect with the service desk, where agents are happy to answer your questions by phone, email or even live chat. At the conclusion of the Maritech event, my speaking notes as well as more information on CanadaBuys.ca and information on where to “sign up’ and who to contact for any questions you may have, will be provided.Ok, public service announcement concluded. So I will leave you with a thank you for listening in on today’s presentations, and our thanks for your level of engagement with the federal program of work.I wish you the very best for an engaging set of presentations today. ................
