|Professional Nursing Issues |Tricia Hunter, RN the ORNCC Legislative Advocate gave a recap of the two-year bill cycle (2011-2012) and|Information |

| |Monica Weisbrich, RN gave a report of the BRN activities from the first committee/Board meeting of |See Attachment #3 |

| |2012.The Board presently has five (5) members appointed which constitutes a quorum. The advanced |Professional Issues Report |

| |practice and administrative representatives need to be appointed. Retained Surgical Items (RSI) were | |

| |discussed and a request for the ORNCC to work with the BRN Practice Committee on this specific issue was| |

| |February 2013. Also discussed was the new procedure of the Board to authorize students to sit for the| |

| |NCLEX exam. Weisbrich reported that the issuing of new licenses and renewals has slowed considerably | |

| |due to the requirement for criminal background checks. The Licensing Division strongly suggests you | |

| |send your renewal as soon as you receive it. Facilities may no longer receive verification of your | |

| |license over the phone. Other issues affecting license renewal are failure to pay state income tax and | |

| |DUI’s. Nurses are held to higher standard | |

| |information, the Executive Committee will determine how to proceed. | |

|Nurses Float |Pat Spongberg, RN, provided this report. The Nurses Float will be in the January 1, 2013 Rose Parade. |Information |

| |announced her parade theme: “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” There will be 2 separate blocks of seats | |
