Please note that LED components are not considered bulbs, an LED bulb is a complete system consisting of LEDs, LED drivers or resistors, and a housing.
DO NOT use LEDS without a current limiting resistor in series with the LED. The forward voltage rating is TYPICAL and can vary from part to part, so while some LEDS may work fine just connected to a battery of the proper voltage, others will be overdriven and be destroyed.
ALWAYS USE A RESISTOR IN SERIES WITH THE LED OR LEDS
Turn signal issues with LED bulbs
LED brake/tail lamps will not flash with thermal flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. Also, with stock flasher units, the turn signals may flash faster than normal (Hyper-Flash). These installations will require an electronic flasher unit, available in our car bulb shopping category (for some vehicles) or at your auto parts store. Try to find flashers designed to work with LED bulbs, they will say "LED compatible". Often HEAVY DUTY flashers will also work with LED bulbs.
LED Turn Signals
The Chameleon LED tail light will go into production by mid 2007. The all-in-one LED turn signal features triple function circuitry including marker lights, brake lights, and turn signals. Three separate power inputs correspond with each tail light function. The outermost LED light rings provides turn signal capabilities while the innermost LED rings function as marker and brake indicators. The overall layout and functionality is very similar to our existing 2.5-inch LED tail light cluster. However, a series of breakaway rings offers amazing flexibility to complement truly custom applications. Custom car enthusiasts looking to integrate an LED tail light cluster into an existing project can tailor the tail light's outer diameter to complement their specific application. The tail light's outer diameter range starts at 1 inch, extending out to 6 inches. Intermediate size increments of approximately 0.25 inch enable numerous custom diameters ranging between 1 and 6 inches. Available colors include red, yellow, and orange. These colors apply to all functions including marker light, brake light, and turn signals. Lunar Accents Design Corporation is currently accepting customer inquiries for custom LED tail light applications similar to the Chameleon LED tail light scheduled for production in 2007. LED Indicator Lights
LED indicator lights consist of a single pre-wired LED circuit for on-demand custom LED lighting solutions. Since most LED lamps only require between two and four volts to operate, additional components are necessary when the source voltage exceeds this range. For example, an aeronautical LED lighting application always requires additional components because the LED light bars cannot operate directly from a twelve or twenty-four volt power source. For those less familiar with the general capabilities of LED products, our indicator lights can offer an inexpensive resource suitable for trial and evaluation purposes. Perhaps the client wishes to evaluate a single component prior to purchasing an LED array with multiple bulbs. Other lighting applications may only require a single LED light, and not an entire array. Such applications may include machinery or test fixtures requiring an indicator for functional feedback.
