CALCULATOR INFORMATION

ALGEBRA 1 HONORS: No calculator is necessary (although in Chapter 4 students will be allowed to use a calculator…this just needs to be a simple calculator like what is on a cell phone or students might want to purchase the TI-30XS). Students will occasionally use the school’s graphing calculators.

ALGEBRA 1 CP: Students will be allowed to use a calculator at times (both in class and for homework) and will occasionally work with the school’s graphing calculators in class. Students may use a simple calculator like what is on a cell phone or might want to purchase the TI-30XS (can be bought at Walmart for less than $20).

GEOMETRY HONORS/CP: Students will need a scientific calculator (I suggest the TI-30XS, which can be purchased at Walmart for less than $20). They will not need them until second semester so I will remind them as that time comes so they can make sure they have one.

ALGEBRA 2 HONORS: No calculator is necessary. Students will work with the school’s graphing calculators in class. Homework assignments should be able to be completed without one (and if anything, the students may be encouraged at times to use a simple calculator like what is on a cell phone to complete assignments). However, if a student is planning to take Precalculus Honors (and potentially AP Calculus), a graphing calculator is a good investment. I suggest the TI-84 Plus CE (that’s what I use and students in AP Calculus are required to have).

PRECALCULUS HONORS: Students are encouraged to purchase a graphing calculator, and the recommended one is the TI-84 Plus CE. If they do not have one, they may use one of the school’s during class time. However, they may not always be allowed to take home for homework purposes if other math classes are using them at the time. If students are planning to take AP Calculus, they will need to have this calculator so now is a great time to invest in one.
