Job DescriptionJob Title:Suicide Prevention CoordinatorResponsible to:Suicide and Crisis Support DirectorResponsibilities:The Suicide Prevention Coordinator is responsible for providing suicide prevention activities including trainings, outreach to Emergency Departments, coordination with colleges for the texting program, crisis response and follow-up phone calls/texts.Job Requirements:Ability to effectively motivate, and train othersMaster’s degree in a social work, counseling or human service or related field preferredDemonstrated interest/skills in human servicesStrong oral and written English language skillsStrong organizational skillsOffers of employment contingent upon acceptable background checkPersonal Qualifications:Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with people from all economic, racial, age, ethnic, and social groupsStrong desire to provide non-judgmental, appropriate assistance to persons in needAbility to effectively deal with complex issuesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff and service providersSpecific Responsibilities:Respond to inbound calls/texts to the call centerDemonstrate sensitivity, empathy regarding human service issues. Project a non-judgmental attitude toward those requiring service.Answer and provide appropriate assistance for information/referral calls following policies and procedures.Answer and provide appropriate intervention/assistance for listening/support calls/texts following policies and procedures.Answer and provide appropriate intervention for crisis/suicide calls/texts following policies and procedures. Prevent suicides by intervening with emergency personnel as needed.Answer and provide appropriate intervention and information for contract calls. Be knowledgeable about all contract specifications.Document calls correctly into computer tracking system according to plete suicide and community surveys according to procedure.Ask callers for suicide follow-ups and community surveys according to procedure.Identify active callers and follow appropriate directives as listed in the active caller profiles.Serve as an on-call member in the rotation throughout the entire calendar year and during at least one major holiday of the year.Help provide coverage or other needed assistance during times of disaster.To support and facilitate the Helpline Center’s suicide prevention effortsCoordinate college texting programProvide assistance to Suicide & Crisis Support Director with managing the follow-up Emergency Department programProvide follow-up calls/texts to program participantsBe knowledgeable and current about trends in suicide/suicide prevention.Provide required reports.Provide postvention support as necessary.Provide input and direction for the Helpline Center’s suicide prevention efforts.Provide training for health, substance abuse, mental health providers and others.Provided suicide prevention trainings to providersPromote, coordinate and organize trainingsProvide ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)Provide QPRT (Question, Persuade, Refer, Treat)Provide MHFA (Mental Health First Aid Training)Provide other trainings as neededTrack demographic and statistical data from suicide prevention plete evaluation documents in an accurate and timely mannerMaintain certification as an ASIST and QPRT trainer.D.
