BALD EAGLE STATE FORESTCAMPING POLICYTemporary camping in accordance with State Forest Rules & Regulations is permitted on the Bald Eagle State Forest. Camping permits may be obtained at the District Office (address on reverse) and at the Forest Maintenance Headquarters at Eastville or New Lancaster Valley no more than 90 days before the planned camping trip. THE YELLOW COPY OF THE PERMIT MUST BE DISPLAYED AT THE CAMPSITE in the holder attached to the numbered post. No more than two camping permits will be issued at any one time. No more will be issued until those are expired. A camping permit will not be issued to any individual who has received a Camping Permit for more than 30 days in a calendar year. A camping permit will not be issued to anyone under the age of 18.MOTORIZED CAMPING – Overnight camping in or near the vehicle where the vehicle continues to be used for storage or transportation. Camping is accomplished in a tent, trailer, van, recreational vehicle, etc., at a designated and numbered State forest campsite. Motorized camping is allowed only at designated sites. Permits run from noon of the “From” date to noon of the “To” date. The permit holder must notify the Forest District office if the arrival or departure date changes from that listed on the Camping Permit. The permit holder must occupy the location listed on the Camping Permit within 24 hours of the arrival date noted on the Camping Permit. The Forest District Manager or designee reserves the right to revoke a valid Camping Permit if the permit holder is found in violation of State Forest Rules and Regulations or permit conditions. The Forest District Manager or a designee can suspend camping privileges for a period of up to 90 days. Applicants will receive written notification following a permit denial. ? No more than 10 people will be allowed per permit or per campsite at one time.? There is a limit of 7 continuous days of camping on the Bald Eagle State Forest. Camping cannot be resumed until 48-hours have passed. All vehicles and camping equipment must be removed from State forest land during this time period.? Human waste must be buried at least six (6) inches below ground level and at least 200 feet from any water source. Self-contained units must dispose of waste at a proper disposal site. There are no disposal sites on the Bald Eagle State Forest.? All trash and refuse generated by campers must be removed from State Forest land and disposed of in accordance with DEP regulations? Small open fires for cooking or warming are permitted where adequate precautions are taken to prevent their spread into the forest except when the wildfire rating is High, Very High, or Extreme and from March 1 thru May 25 and from October 1 thru December 1. Self-contained stoves can be used during these periods.? Firewood can be picked up on and around site for use while camping.? Campfires at designated sites must be in metal fire ring only and not left unattended at any time.? Fires must be completely extinguished before leaving campsite. Ashes must be buried or removed prior to leaving the site.? No nails are to be placed in trees.? All strings, ropes, wires, etc. must be removed prior to departure.? Tables, chairs, or other furniture will not be left on site after departure.CAMPING WITH DOMESTIC ANIMALS:? No more than two domestic animals are allowed per campsite. Dogs cannot be left unattended. They must be controlled at all times.? Chains, or any other restraints, cannot be attached to a tree. HORSES AT CAMPING SITES:? Tether lines must be used when horses are kept on site. Horses may NOT be tied directly to trees or shrubs.? Manure must be removed from site.YOU will be held responsible for the condition of your site when you leave!Non-compliance with this camping policy will result in the loss of future camping privileges on the Bald Eagle State Forest.
