Frequently Asked Questions Distance Learning School Website Address: Updates as of Wednesday, August 19, 2020 1. How will distance learning work and what will it look like? Please refer to the calendars and schedules on the front page of our website that detail what a typical day and week will look like for students and students will participate in asynchronous (not real-time) and synchronous (real time) learning. All live sessions will be recorded to ensure students can participate at the time they need. Lawrence Junior High School will operate on a 4 period day schedule this fall. Our planned schedule includes both Synchronous Instruction, where students are receiving real-time instruction via a Google hangout with a live teacher, and Asynchronous Instruction, where students are learning independently using recorded video content, digital content, and assessment activities. Students will login to all their classes on Wednesdays for a shorter time. 2. My child needs a Chromebook for distance learning. Please call Lawrence Junior High School at 702-799-2540.We are excited that our students will have the opportunity to participate in a special Mobile Device distribution to extend distance learning opportunities outside of the school building. With parent or guardian permission, each student will check out a Clark County School District Mobile Device for the 2020-2021 school year. This will allow student access to online educational materials and other resources to help them complete their studies at home. How do I login into my Infinite Campus and Email accounts? I forgot my password or I am new to CCSD schools. Beginning August 1, 2020, all student Infinite Campus usernames will be changed from Student Number (i.e., 1234567) to use the Active Directory/Google login (i.e., Clifford.98765). To change/reset your password, visit 5. How do I know where to go to login into Canvas? On Monday, August 24, you will meet with your advisory teacher. To find your advisory teacher, please look at your schedule through Infinite Campus. Log on to your Advisory Teacher Code (available Monday, August 24). The CCSD Board of Trustees has committed to this plan for 90 school days – this equates to the entire first semester. 10. When is the first day of school? The first day of school is August 24, 2020 for all students. 11. How will this affect IEPs? Students with IEPs will still receive minutes that are designated to them on their IEP. Resource minutes will be provided by a resource teacher and/or a licensed special education teacher. All Special Education Teachers will be working with classroom teachers to ensure students are continuing to work on goals and benchmarks that are in the IEPs. 12. What about IEP meetings? IEP meetings will be all held virtually, and you will be notified of the details for attending the meeting online. 13. I need a Chromebook distance learning; how will I get one?A link was sent out asking which students needed a Chromebook for home use immediately and a pickup schedule has been created. If you did not fill out the survey and require a Chromebook for distance learning, you may call the school at (702) 799-2540. 14. Will the main school office be open for walk ins? Unfortunately, the office will not be open for walk in questions or registration. The office, at this time, is closed. The office is open to receive phone calls from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. 15. How can I keep up with my student’s progress and grades? The Clark County School District student information system, Infinite Campus, allows parents to view their child’s academic information in real time through the Parent Portal. Go to campus.campus/portal. If you have any questions or concerns logging into the Parent Portal, or with the information you see in the parent Portal, please contact the school office at (702) 799-3440. 16. How does my student find out their schedule and know when and how-to login to their classes? Student schedules will be available on the Portal beginning Wednesday, August 19, 2020 and students will receive information from their teachers on their school email accounts.
