Head and Neck cancer nurse specialists
The Head and Neck cancer team includes:
• Three Macmillan Head and Neck cancer nurse specialists
• Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator
• Head and Neck secretary
• Two Macmillan highly specialist speech and language therapists (SLT) and an additional member who is based at Airedale General Hospital.
• Macmillan dietitian
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the team covers both Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. It provides information and support to patients from the point of diagnosis (including work up to diagnosis), care through treatment, rehabilitation and supported self-management, as well as palliation.
Services offered
• Face-to-face and telephone support to patients and carers throughout their cancer pathway
• Providing information and acting as a key-worker contact for patients and carers
• Referring on to other healthcare professionals or support staff
• Advice, support and education for other healthcare professionals
• Collaborative clinic with dietitian and SLT to manage side effects of treatment
