The CA I provides technical assistance to user agencies to help resolve their entry/update problems. The CA I will conduct quality control, monitor the data, process various reports for validation purposes, provide statistical reports upon request and conduct ad hoc searches of the database for critical warrant and SRF data. The CA I will be responsible for reviewing NCIC’s Technical Operation Updates (TOU), manuals, publications, and websites relative to the Wanted Persons Unit and Supervised Release File (SRF). Additionally, the CA I is responsible for working with program staff and law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), and the FBI’s National Crime Information Center’s (NCIC), policies and procedures. The CA I may also assist with other IDSS databases.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position is directly supervised by the CIS III.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. May be required to lift, carry, or move up to 20 pounds.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Enclosed windowed office in a smoke-free environment. Occasional travel within California.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS45%The CA I will provide policy and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies relative to current warrant data issues. Work with various DOJ programs to determine effects of current and new legislation relative to warrants. Perform quality control review of the data to ensure compliance with the CJIS and NCIC’s policies and procedures. Evaluate and address operational needs and/or concerns, review NCIC Technical operation updates, work with program staff to identify and document issues or programming changes, and assist with testing.25%Coordinate and disseminate the NCIC Quarterly Purge Listing and work with law enforcement agencies to determine if the record information is still valid, monitor NCIC $.L locate messages taking appropriate action to modify the located records and notifying the wanting agency, maintain the “Interested Agency Flag” file process, and process the NCIC out of synch list. Assist with the development of training materials for WPS and SRF users or stakeholders to present new and existing WPS and SRF services using a variety of tools such as PowerPoint, webinars, etc. Assist with training of internal and external audiences in small and large group settings. Occasionally travel to meet with or present training to stakeholders within California specifically related to WPS and SRF.15%Process the NCIC YQ/YR hit confirmation requests when a locating agency attempts to confirm a warrant, maintains the 3rd hit report, and coordinates the data sharing process between the DOJ and other state or federal agencies. 10%Perform special searches of the WPS and SRF databases for user agencies for investigative purposes and provide statistical data upon request. 5%Assist with special projects as required by management.
