NRG ATTENDEE NEWS 2017

This is the first of what I hope will become an annual event. As such, there will be things that don't go smooth or are not even considered. Please have some

patience.

An important component of most bamboo rodmaking gatherings is the ability to cast a variety of different rods from different makers. Please bring some of your rods to go into the rod rack. There will be "lobster" bands available to slip onto the area above the grip. Several different colors for different line weights will be

available. This will make it easy to find all the 4wts or other wts.

When you arrive, please check in and pick up your name badge. It is important you wear your name badge so we know who you are and that you are part of the

gathering. The WFSC is an open to the public location and others at the campground may want to wander over and cast rods.

ONLY REGISTERED ATTENDEES SHOULD BE CASTING RODS.

The last program of the day Saturday will be a display of different kinds of rod wrappers (for guides). Please consider bringing your own wrapper to set up and show. This will be more of a casual program. The idea is to show different styles

and types. Maybe yours will inspire another rodmaker.

After dinner on Saturday evening I would like anyone who is interested in helping with future NRGs to stick around for a short meeting.

Water and coffee will be available Friday and all-day Saturday. If you prefer something else, BYO. No alcohol will be permitted at the gathering itself. There is

time after the dinners on your own.

If you are not familiar with the West Fork Sportsmans Club location, visit their website (see Links) for an interactive map. The WFSC has experienced flooding this year and so it is important that you do NOT park on the grass. This will most likely be the home of the NRG for many years to come so we want to be sure we treat the facility well. The cell service in the valley is not very good, keep this in

mind.

If you have ordered bamboo, please settle with Scott when you pick up your name badge.

The fishing at this time in September should be very good. The Driftless Angler Fly Shop in Viroqua, has everything you need and updates their fishing report every day. They also keep the last few weeks reports on their site. See the links tab for a link to the website. Mat and his crew are very helpful and a great resource for

fishers in the area.

Please give me any feedback you have on the gathering, good or bad. Send to oossg@.
