Summer Envelopes

We sincerely thank our parishioners who mail or deliver your weekly envelopes to the parish office while you are out-of-town on vacations this summer. As many of you understand, our parish expenses and obligations do not take a vacation when you do, so it is very helpful to be able to rely on your continued support even when you cannot personally attend Mass here.

Our Volunteers Are Valuable – We have always known that the many parishioners who volunteer to serve in our various parish organizations and ministries are most valuable. Now we have confirmation. Based on the average hourly wage, experts currently estimate that one hour of volunteer time is worth $18.55. However, to us your volunteer time is invaluable. Through the gifts of time and talent that our parishioners so generously share we are able to truly be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ here in Corpus Christi Church. Many thanks to ALL those faithful and generous stewards who volunteer in our parish! Your time is worth everything to us!

On The Funny Side…………………………………

Crumpled Up

A woman said to her husband "Do you want to see a crumpled up $50?

And he said "yes" So she reached into her pocket pulled it out and gave it to him.

Then she said "do you want to see a crumpled up $100?

And he said "yes" So she reached into her pocket pulled it out and gave it to him.

Then she said " Do you want to see $50,000 crumpled up and he said "yes"

So she said, go look for your car in the garage then.

National Leaders.

That national leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade, which victimizes so many innocent people.

Urgent Prayer Intention:

War and Terrorism: May the Holy Spirit grant peace to the entire world.  May He heal the wounds of war and terrorism, which most recently struck innocent civilians in London.  Let us pray for the victims and their families

75th Anniversary of Corpus Christi Parish

Fr. Damian is inviting parishioners to join him in forming an Anniversary Committee so we can plan for this important milestone in our parish. Contact the parish office to sign up. Next meeting will be announced. All are invited to partake in this special time of our parish.

If you could perhaps help with some of the following items for the committee:

The committee members are asking that a member from each ministry join the committee to represent their ministry and to share in the planning of the events.

We are also looking for volunteer parishioners to be interviewed that might have information from previous years of history of the parish.

The committee members would also like some assistance in reaching out to Corpus Christi School Alumni.

If you can be of assistance with any of the above, kindly contact the parish office.

Evangelization:

Celebrate the anniversaries of baptism and of children, grandchildren and godchildren. We all celebrate our birthdays and the birthdays of friends and relatives. Most couples celebrate their wedding anniversary, and many young couples celebrate the anniversary of their first date. Doing this signifies that they think these happenings in their life were important. What would the impact be if I placed the “Baptism Candle” in a cake on the anniversary of my child’s baptism and invited the godparents to dinner (and maybe the priest or deacon who baptized the person)? Or if there were some other recognition: a card, a phone call, a religious gift? Perhaps I could frame the baptism certificate and place it on the wall as I would a diploma, rather than putting it in the bottom drawer. Wouldn’t this say something about the importance of sharing in the priesthood of Jesus? Does failing to recognize this say something also?
