Ringling College Safe Community Standards Promise At Ringling College it is our priority to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all. We care about everyone in our community. As a result, now more than ever, each student, faculty, and staff member needs to do their part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. While the College will continue to do its part to minimize the risk of infection on campus, all students, faculty, and staff must do their part to reduce exposure and spread to help maintain the health and safety of all members of our campus community. Specific to you as a student, what can you do to help keep our community healthy? First you need to be mindful of your own actions and follow the Ringling College safety protocols, which are in accordance with recommendations from the CDC and the State of Florida Department of Health. Second, we expect you to take responsibility for your own health and to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by acknowledging your understanding of and promising your commitment to the following Ringling College Safe Community Standards for behavior:I promise to…Wear face coverings when in public and shared spaces, especially inside buildings, and when physical distancing is difficult, including outdoors during times of high-traffic across campus.Wear face coverings in classrooms, labs, or studios, during both scheduled class times and open lab times.Maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet between myself and others.Wash my hands frequently with soap and warm water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that aligns with CDC recommendations for alcohol content.Regularly clean personal work areas and frequently-touched surfaces and objects.Regularly clean personal shared spaces, such as kitchens and residence hall bathrooms.Limit in-person conversations to less than 15 minutes if possible and always wear a face covering while doing so.Limit other Ringling College student guests in my residence space to 1 per resident, but only with approval of roommate(s)/suitemate(s), and only when I and others are able to practice Safe Community Standards for behavior. No non-Ringling College guests/visitors are allowed in residences.Limit the size of social gatherings in accordance with public health and Ringling College guidelines. Presently, those guidelines call for social gatherings to be limited to 10 or less individuals, with attendees wearing face coverings and maintaining 6 feet of physical distance whenever possible. Social gatherings are considered to be any informal activity taking place in a space not designed to support physical distancing. Instructional activities, like classes and studios, and other College-sponsored programming that occur in areas intended to support a physically distanced environment are not categorized as social gatherings. Monitor my health:If I feel generally like I have a cold or flu, or if I have specific symptoms of COVID-19 (a fever of 100.4 F or greater, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, new GI symptoms, loss of taste or smell, or a runny or stuffy nose not related to allergies), I WILL NOT GO TO CLASS OR REPORT TO WORK. If I have any of these symptoms, I will contact the Ringling College Student Health Center at 941-309-4000 or medical@ringling.edu. In addition to required baseline testing, I will complete testing if randomly selected, throughout the year at the College’s expense.I will make responsible choices with my off-campus behavior and continue the practice of the Safe Community Standards for behavior.I will look out for others and help to encourage their adherence to the Safe Community Standards for behavior.Abide by institutional regulations that may change throughout the year as national, state, and College policies are updated in light of the changing landscape of COVID-19.I understand that Ringling College will have zero tolerance for any non-compliance to the required adherence to the Safe Community Standards for behavior and that violators will face disciplinary action up to and including suspension from Ringling College.By signing this promise, I am acknowledging that I have read and understand what is expected of me as a student at Ringling College in terms of adherence to the Safe Community Standards for behavior.
