Target Audience

This activity is intended for clinicians engaged in primary care or in the treatment and care of patients with HIV. Persons living with or interested in HIV are also welcome.

Program Overview

This webinar aims to prepare clinicians engaged in primary care and/or HIV treatment and care about how to initiate antiretroviral treatment for HIV at the first visit following a positive HIV antibody test; to initiate PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV) for appropriate patients at risk, in accordance with CDC guidelines; and to discuss with patients the common sexually transmitted infections that may occur in patients at risk, and the advantages of condom use in conjunction with PrEP

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

• Initiate antiretroviral treatment for HIV at the first visit following a positive HIV antibody test, and discuss the rationale of early treatment for patient care and public health.

• Initiate pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV, for appropriate patients at risk, in accordance with CDC guidelines.

• Discuss with patients common sexually transmitted infections that may occur in patients at risk, and the advantages of condom use in conjunction with PrEP.

3. Click on activity title when it appears.

4. Choose your profession/type of credit you are seeking.

5. Complete the online Post-Test and Evaluation Form. Your score on the Post-Test will not be revealed until you also complete the Evaluation.
