0000Internet and Device Access: BPS is working to provide access to district devices for families. All BHS, CHS, and LHS students were issued a device that they should have with them. Middle School student devices started to be distributed on 3/20/20 and will have additional opportunities communicated next week. SCHS, other highschoolers who do not have their device, and elementary students will also receive information on device access next week. We understand that having a device without having Internet has limited functionality. Plans for distance learning include both online and off-line options. If your family does not have Internet access and would like to investigate options, see the list of providers below to contact them directly. BPS has enabled drive-up (Park and Learn) Internet access near all school district buildings. Our network names are “BPS-Student” on a Chromebook or “BPS-Guest”. We will work to improve this option and communicate additional options being determined by community partners. If you use the Park and Learn option you must practice the advised safe social distancing of 6 feet from other users. As we move towards distance learning, schools will work with families to problem solve and assist in ensuring access to learning materials and potential Internet access options.Cyber security awareness: It is essential to consider cybersecurity and data privacy to minimize risks to students and educators. We must be aware of misinformation through unsafe links and tricks asking for login credentials, credit card information, and other personal details. If you are unsure about something or have questions please contact your school for more information.Educators and technology staff will never ask for your login credentials via e-mail or threaten to turn off access to school accounts. For example, Park and Learn Internet access at BPS schools and other community access is a free resource. No purchasing information such as your credit card number will ever be needed. All BPS messaging will be communicated through the Bismarck Schools website and our official email/text/voice messaging system. If you are suspicious of the validity of any message you receive please call your school to verify.
