A list of the commands can be found by going to Start/Help and searching for Command-line reference A-Z.

1. How do you change the drive at the command prompt?

2. Run the chkdsk command on the new partition (drive e?). Paste a screen capture below.

3. What is the cluster size?

4. Run the chkdsk command on the jump drive or floppy disk. What file system is used?

5. Return to the C drive. Move to the WINDOWS folder. (You may want to use the cd or chdir to move around.)

6. What is a wildcard? Use the dir command with a wildcard to display the exe files in the WINDOWS folder. What was your command?

7. Move to a folder with a few files. Use the copy command that copies all of the files from the current directory to your jump drive or floppy disk. What was your command?

8. What happens with your command above if you try to copy a file and a file with the same name already exists in the destination location?

9. Run the driverquery command, copy the text and paste it below (not a screen capture – there is a menu under that C:\ at the top).

10. Select one of the drivers and perform a Google (or other) search on it. Paste below a screen capture showing the first couple results.

11. What is the path for your selected driver?

12. Run a cls command. What does it do?

13. Telnet to the alpha. Run a finger command on your last name. Paste the results below.

14. While on the alpha, run a date command followed as quickly as possible by an exit command followed as quickly as possible by a time command (don’t set a new time). What is the approximate time difference between the alpha and your system?

15. If you are still mapped to \\172.18.202.201\Public, disconnect and then determine the syntax of a net use command that will make this connection. Place a copy of the syntax below.

16. Disconnect. Open Notepad and paste a copy of your command in a file and save it as MapDrive.bat. Double click on the file. What happens?

17. Disconnect. Place the file in the folder so that the command will be executed for one of your users when he/she logs on. What is the path?

18. Describe the differences between the more command and the type command.
