Processes
To Add a New User:
▪ Change user Profile Setup *
To Add software on a new or existing PC that does not have the VI Client software
▪ Install Program and Fix Pack *
▪ Change Startup Process on PC *
▪ Shut down and restart the PC
To Load the Latest Fix Pack on a PC that has the VI Client
▪ Install appropriate Fix Pack *
▪ Shut down and restart the PC

Sign on as QVIADMIN
Option 1 for Profile Maintenance
Option 2 for Work with User Profiles
For a new User, place a ‘1’ in the first line under option, press
Enter the user id
Enter the full name of the user
Enter *NOPRIVS for Privilege Set
For an existing user, place a ‘2’ in front of the user id
Change Privilege Set to ‘*NOPRIVS’
Add to the appropriate User Group. Option 3 Work with Groups

Enter the User id on a blank line.

AS400 User Profile
Sign on as QSECOFR
Add to System Directory:
ADDDIRE^USRID(^) USRD(') USER()
(you may get a message, already in directory. This is okay)
Install VI Client
Install Program
UnZip the file provided by Solutions
Find SETUP (there will be more than one, you want the one with a blue icon)
Double Click.
Choose Setup Language. Select ENGLISH click on OK
Welcome. Click on Next
Choose Destination Location. Click on Next
Select Components. Check scanning, check toolkit, Click on Next
Server Connection Information. Select Generate a new Network Table. Select TCP/IP. Enter AS/400 system name for Server Name. Enter AS/400 TCP/IP Address for Host Name. Click on Next
Select Program Folder. Click on Next
Setup Complete. Click on Finish
Install Fix Pack
Unzip the Fixpack File
Double click on the CMClient file with the highest number
Welcome to Content Manager for iSeries. Change unzip to Folder to c:\temp\vic, click on UnZip
WinZip Self-Extractor. Click on OK
Welcome. Click on Next
Start Copying Files. Click on Next
Setup Complete. Click on Finish
Close all windows.
Add the program EKDVICLT.exe to the startup folder (directions following)
Shut down the system and restart.
Change Startup Options
Windows 2000
Click on Start
Click on Settings
Click on Taskbar & Start Menu
Click on Advanced Tab (at the top)
Click on Add
Browse for location of item: should be as follows:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\CM for iSeries\EKDVICLT.EXE"
Click on Next
Find Startup, click once to highlight
Click on Next
Leave name of shortcut to the default
Click on Finish
Click on OK to close Taskbar & Start Menu Properties
Shut down and restart.
Windows XP
Click on Start
Click on Control Panel
Double click on Taskbar and Start Menu
Click on Start Menu (tab at the top)
Select Classic Start Menu
Click on Customize
Click on Add
Browse for location of item: should be as follows:
"C:\Program Files\IBM\CM for iSeries\EKDVICLT.EXE"
Click on Next
Find Startup, click once to highlight
Click on Next
Leave name of shortcut to the default
Click on Finish
Select Start Menu
Click on OK
Close Control Panel window
Shut down and restart.
UnInstall VI Client
Click on Start
Click on Settings
Click on Control Panel
Double click on Add/Remove Programs
Find IBM Content Manager for iSeries Client of Windows.
Click once to highlight
Click on Change/Remove
Click on YES
Remove Shared File?. Click on YES To All, then click on YES
Click on OK
Click on Close
Close the Control Panel Window
Press CTRL ALT and DLT.
Select Task Manager
Click on Processes (tab at the top)
Click on Image Name to sort alphabetically
Click on EKDVICLT.EXE
Click on End Process
Close the window
Double click on My Computer
Double Click on C Drive
Double Click on Program Files
Double Click in IBM
Click once on CM for iSeries to select
Press the DELETE key
Confirm Folder Delete. Click on YES
CM for iSeries. Click on YES
Close the open window

Type: ADDDIRE and press

After pressing , if you get the message “User profile ALISON already enrolled in system distribution directory” this means that it was already there, did not need to be added. You can ignore this message.
