BIM 360 CORRUPTED LOCAL FILES Occasionally you will find that files associated with Collaboration for Revit (BIM 360) will become corrupted and you will consistently get errors like the ones below:

Resolving these issues requires some knowledge of locating cryptically named files and should be done with caution, if you aren't comfortable with that please contact a BIM coordinator

1. To resolve this issue first identify which model file is causing issues, this can typically be done by going to manage links within Revit and finding the model which is unloaded and cannot be reloaded

2. One the file is identified, open it in a new session of Revit (if this fails skip to part 2). Once that file has been opened close out of it and all Revit sessions

3. Next copy and paste this into windows to locate the local files from Collaboration for Revit (only the text within the quotations)

a. For 2016: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2016\CollaborationCache" b. For 2017: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2017\CollaborationCache" c. For 2018: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2018\CollaborationCache"

4. Next open the folder which will be named with letters and numbers (similar to image below) a. This folder represents your username and the projects you have opened

5. Within that folder there will be at least one additional folder a. This folder represents the project on BIM 360 and contains all the local models for that project

6. To identify the model you are concerned with, look for the date modified and open the folder which has the most recent date

7. Within this folder you will start to see some Revit files each file is named again with a unique identifier and isn't named as you would normally see. Once again look for the model with the most recent date modified this will be the file you want to delete

8. Locate the file you most recently opened, which should be the problematic file we opened in Step 2. Additionally, check the LinkedModels folder and the CentralCache folder and delete any models which have the same file name as the problematic file.

9. Example: A ? is the model in the main folder B ? is the model in the CentralCache folder C ? is in the LinkedModels D ? is in the CentralCache within the LinkedModels folder All should be deleted

a.

b.

c. d. 10. Lastly re-open Revit and open that project with the problematic file, this may take longer than normal since Revit is downloading that file again locally.

OPTION 2 1. Option 2 will result in Revit downloading and rebuilding all the models which are linked into your model in BIM 360. This will likely take a long time, up to an hour depending on your connection speed and file size.

2. First close out of any open Revit files then copy and paste this into windows to locate the local files from Collaboration for Revit (only the text within the quotations)

a. For 2016: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2016\CollaborationCache" b. For 2017: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2017\CollaborationCache" c. For 2018: "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2018\CollaborationCache"

3. Next open the folder which will be named with letters and numbers (similar to image below) a. This folder represents your username and the projects you have opened

4. Within that folder there will be at least one additional folder a. This folder represents the project on BIM 360 and contains all the local models for that project, DELETE THIS FOLDER

5. Lastly re-open Revit and open that project with the problematic file, this may take longer than normal since Revit is downloading that whole project again locally.

OPTION 3 1. Complete steps 1-4 of option 2 first. 2. Now copy and paste this into windows to locate the local files from Collaboration for Revit (only the text within the quotations) a. For All Revit Versions: "C:\Users\eschappe\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\PacCache" 3. Select all folders and delete **make sure Revit is closed before doing this** 4. Lastly re-open Revit and open that project with the problematic file, this may take longer than normal since Revit is downloading that whole project again locally.
