Grammarly is a grammar and spell-checking tool used for proofreading. It can detect potential errors and grammatical spelling mistakes in writing and make suggestions to correct them.

Free vs Premium Accounts

Grammarly offers both `free' and `Premium' accounts.

Through UTS Library's subscription, you can create a premium account without any costs to you.

Creating a new premium Grammarly account

Go to: . Click on the `Sign-up' button. Enter your Full Name, UTS Email Address, and your chosen password Click Sign up. [Grammarly will send you a confirmation email to your UTS email address.

Note that, sometimes it takes a while for that email to arrive in your inbox] Log in to your UTS Email Account: Open the confirmation email you have received from Grammarly. It may ask you to either

verify your email or enter the access code. Just follow the prompts. If it asks for an access code, please enter: dbwuDh38Kd2wsfjV Note: If you already have a free Grammarly membership, log out of that account , and visit to create a new premium account to take advantage of the extra features.

Downloading `Grammarly for Microsoft Office' add-in Grammarly has an add-in which works with Microsoft Word. To download the plugin, follow these steps:

Go to: Log in Once you have logged in, click on Apps from the left-hand side navigation panel.

Click on the red Install button next to Grammarly for Microsoft Office. Close all Microsoft Office applications in our computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

etc.) Run the downloaded installation file. Follow the prompts to download Grammarly for Microsoft

Office add-in. Log in to Grammarly if prompted.

Once the installation is complete, launch Microsoft Word. Grammarly will appear in your toolbar:

Click on Open Grammarly Change the default document type to Academic - General Academic (this is a very important

step)

Click on these buttons: contextual Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, Style and Vocabulary enhancement. All of these options should turn on.

That's it! You can now start using Grammarly. You will notice that as you enter text in Microsoft Word, the Grammarly add-in will continuously check your work, detect any grammatical or spelling issues and make suggestions.

While Grammarly is enabled, the undo (control + Z) button will not work. You should not accept every suggestion Grammarly makes. Always use your judgement. If you have not accessed Grammarly in the past six months, please sign up again as

accounts that have not been used in 6 months are deleted, and you will need to create a new account. Grammarly is not UTS' preferred plagiarism checking tool. Use Turnitin instead: Need more assistance? If you need more assistance using Grammarly, please ask a librarian:
