Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities% TimeLeadershipProvide effective leadership to the security team. Agree quality and service standards with stakeholders and ensure that these standards are met, embedding within the services a culture of continuous development.30%StrategyIdentify, prepare and implement business strategies that target crime prevention and security service improvement. These must include performance criteria and mechanisms for measurement that ensure intended outcomes are achieved.Actively promote the Security Service for the purpose of deterring crime and enhancing and maximising reputation.Maintain a good working relationship with the, local police force and other relevant agencies to ensure an excellent exchange of information.Represent Security Services on University committees and selected external fora, as and when required.20%PlanningIn accordance with legislative and University requirements, develop, implement and monitor adherence to local (Security Service) policies and procedures.Oversee the procurement of contracts and purchase of goods ensuring University financial standing orders are observed and that robust procedures exist to demonstrate sound audit practice.Develop service specifications, operational policies and procedures so that they meet operational requirements and ensure that a process for continuous review and improvement is set in plete and review (as necessary) departmental Health and Safety, Security and Business Continuity risk assessments. Prepare security risk assessments for capital projects, faculties and professional services as required.20%ManagementAccountable for all Security Operations budgets. Ensure on a monthly basis that budget targets are achieved, that resources are appropriately and efficiently allocated and that expenditure remains within budget constraints.In the management of staff performance and discipline, ensure that HR policies are applied appropriately and fairly to all members of security workforce.Ensure adherence with University and Security Department Health and Safety Policy / Procedures, risk assessments and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)Use a problem solving approach to crime prevention and crime risk analysis for all security incidents affecting the University of Southampton community. Take a proactive approach to crime prevention.
