PGA Family Fun Zone Coming to Rochester, August 3-6,

Leading Into 95th PGA Championship

Syracuse Chiefs Stadium, Port of Pittsford Park and Buffalo Bison’s Park

to host free golf instruction and games for the entire family

ROCHESTER, N.Y – Local residents and golf fans excited about the 95th PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, will have the chance to take a few swings themselves as the PGA Family Fun Zone visits Rochester, August 3-6.

The PGA Family Fun Zone is a free golf festival staged by The PGA of America, featuring group golf lessons conducted by PGA/LPGA Professionals from the Western New York PGA Section, games and other fun activities to bring golf to the local community and encourage residents to play the game.

Two pair of tickets will be given away to attendees at each location (Saturday through Tuesday), for admission to the 95th PGA Championship.

The PGA Family Fun Zone will set up in a different location each day to make the attraction convenient for as many fans as possible. The schedule and locations for the PGA Family Fun Zone are below.

Saturday, August 3

Buffalo Bison’s Ball Park

5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 4

Downtown Pittsford – Port of Pittsford Park

12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Tuesday, August 6

Syracuse Chiefs Stadium

5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

“We are thrilled to bring the game of golf to non-traditional golf locations in the Rochester area to celebrate the 95th PGA Championship,” said PGA of America President Ted Bishop. “This is a great way for friends and families to come out and swing a club, learn more about the great golf programs going on in their hometown and have an opportunity to win tickets to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.”

A variety of golf experiences and PGA Sports Academy activities and games will be available, including:

• Areas for hitting irons and woods

• Short-game activities featuring Golf-Zilla

• Practice putting green

• Golf games

• Kwik Golf

• Fun fitness activities

Participants are encouraged to register onsite for the PGA Championship Play, Scan & Win Sweepstakes, which features a variety of prizes. Free pedometers, courtesy of Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), will be distributed at all three PGA Family Fun Zone venues. The pedometers promote the health and fitness benefits that come with walking and playing golf.

Participants will receive information about Get Golf Ready, PGA Junior League Golf, PGA Sports Academy, Family Golf and other programs at local courses, giving them the opportunity to continue their interest in golf after the PGA Championship has concluded.
