This bilingual site for families and educators features articles, videos, and other resources many of which are focused on language and literacy development.The Young Dual Language Learner: 20 Short Videos This collection of short videos highlights real world examples of best practices for young dual language learners. Clips focus on four areas: 1) effective teaching strategies, 2) the first and second languages of young children, 3) parent, family and community engagement, and 4) stages and strategies of preschool second language acquisition.Supporting Preschoolers’ Vocabulary Learning: Using a Decision-Making Model to Select Appropriate Words and Methods This article offers several thoughtful approaches for preschool educators, including how to select target vocabulary and different methods for introducing and reinforcing those new words. The article includes consideration of when direct instruction may be an important component in the teaching-learning equation.Free Online Library of Picture Books for New Readers the Unite for Literacy website to gain access to 250 picture books, readable on smartphones and other connected devices, and specifically designed to delight early readers. The multilingual collection is targeted to children ages 3 to 6, though younger children might enjoy them thoroughly. Full Participation is a one-way resource listserv that is distributed monthly. Each issue features resources to support the learning and development of preschool age children, with emphasis on four dimensions of full participation: 1) family engagement; 2) inclusive practices for children with developmental delays and disabilities; 3) culture and language, including support of dual language learners; and 4) promoting social relationships. All resources are readily available and free. All or part of Full Participation may be freely shared or reproduced.
