We offer?courses at our literacy library?in central London and?deliver training in various?regional locations?as well as provide a wide range of?free resources?for Primary teachers.JOB OVERVIEWProviding the charity with children’s literature expertise and maintaining, managing, developing, promoting and evaluating the CLPE library resource. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESManagement of Library StockOrganising and managing the library, ensuring its effective use by staff and visitorsManaging the library catalogue and ensuring that this is up to date and effectively usedSelecting, acquiring, organising and promoting Library resources through liaison with children’s publishers and the CLPE teamMaintaining the library and sharing the resources with visitors which may include authors, researchers, school parties and teachers Promoting and publicising the services provided by the Library and maintaining links with other libraries and relevant organisationsSupporting CLPE TrainingEnsuring the CLPE staff are kept up to date with the range of books available from the publishing industrySupporting and advising the teaching staff on selection of books for resource and training developmentProviding appropriate book resources for courses (in liaison with the course tutor) and ensuring these are available and set up when neededAdvising on and creating book lists for inclusion in CLPE resourcesSupporting the marketing team to make choices and recommendations to our wider audienceProviding the administration for book-based projects and research such as the CLiPPA and Reflecting Realities.Liaising with Authors, Publishers and other OrganisationsBeing the point of contact for all publishers and all book deliveriesLiaising with publishers to obtain books that are needed for the provision of the charity’s work, including negotiating appropriate charity discounts where necessaryPassing relevant information about children’s literature on to the wider CLPE staff groupBeing the point of contact for all author bookings and maintain records for booking, invoicing and payment of invited authors, illustrators and poets.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSSignificant and successful experience working with children’s literatureExperience in library managementQualification in library management or information systems desirableExperience in managing relationships with publishers and a knowledge of the children’s book world Excellent copywriting skills and spoken English for communicating (face to face and written)APTITUDES, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESGood organisational and time management skillsGood personal presence and communication skills, able to communicate clearly and confidently, both orally and in writing, to a diverse range of audiencesApproachable, accessible and flexibleAble to develop good relationships with CLPE clients, staff members and other stakeholdersPERSON SKILLSTo have evidence of continuing and recent professional development relevant to the postA good understanding of current theory and best practice in literacy and literature, particularly as it relates to children of primary ageExperience in presenting confidently at conferences or equivalentBENEFITS30 days holiday rising to 35 days after 5 yearsOffice closure between Christmas and New Year Interest free season ticket loan (up to ?5,000)Auto enrolment into the Pension scheme ................
