Can you still remember your favorite dish in Chinese food? While you are eating those dishes, did you relate them to Chinese culture? Today, we will learn Chinese culture through tasting chines food. Discussion: After giving handouts of Chinese Cuisine Overview and Chinese Food Philosophies, let students talk about their favorite Chinese dishes and explain the reason. Then let students try to find out the ingredients in the dishes. One group should introduce one Chinese after they discuss with each other. Each of group will receive a menu from Chinese restaurant, and choose one they would be willing to try eating (should be different from the one they chose before). Then talk about some differences with the one they chose before. Give each student a set of chopsticks. First, ask if there are students already know how to use chopsticks. If there are, let them explain to the others. If not, the teacher could make the example of how to use chopsticks.Give students explanations about how the climate, population and resources have influences food in China.Example: Sichuan Food.
