Ask God to be present with you during this time of worship.CENTERING OUR HEARTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS “Of the Father’s Love Begotten” arr by Mark Hayes Beth EvansWELCOME Reverend Christina Hart-PerkinsCANDLELIGHTING LITURGY The Olmstead Family Light one candle for peace. Because the weary world is broken and the wait is long, but we refuse to be frozen by fear. Peace comes in fits and starts, a deep breath a courageous truth a humble heart. “Prepare the way,” she whispers, “for the Lord comes to make the broken whole.” So we light two candles, because it only takes hope and peace; Christ with us. PRAY: Please pray with me. “Jesus, our Peace, be near to us when our lives seem far from peaceful. Assure us of your presence with us. We need you, Holy Spirit, and we cry out to you for help. Be our gentle Shepherd, our wise King, and the Peace of our hearts we pray. Amen.”ADVENT HYMN “Blessed Be the God of Israel” #209 HymnalBlessed be the God of Israel, who comes to set us free, who visits and redeems us, and grants us liberty. The prophets spoke of mercy, of freedom and release;God shall fulfill the promise to bring our people peace. Now from the house of David a child of grace is given;a Savior comes among us to raise us up to heaven. Before him goes the herald, forerunner in the way,the prophet of salvation, the harbinger of day.On prisoners of darkness the sun begins to rise, the dawning of forgiveness upon the sinner's eyes,to guide the feet of pilgrims along the paths of peace;O bless our God and Savior with songs that never cease!PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION LiturgistSpeak to us, Lord. Speak to us in the waiting, the watching, the hoping, the longing, the sorrow, the sighing, the rejoicing. Speak to us by your Word in these Advent days, and walk with us until the day of your coming. Amen.SCRIPTURE READINGIsaiah 11:6-9 Liturgist This is the Word of God for the people of God.Thanks be to God.
