Group Policy Object (GPO) Installation of CCH IntelliConnect Browser SearchDocument PurposeYou wish to push CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search to endpoint workstations via Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPO).PrerequisitesNetwork must have Active Directory enabledDomain Administrator PrivilegesAccess to Domain Controller to use: Active Directory Users and ComputersGroup Policy Management ConsoleNetwork Share to be used as the Distribution Point. (A Domain Controller can be used if a separate file server is not available).Note: If you are only installing the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search for Google Chrome, a network share is not required.Workstation Endpoints (Windows 7, Windows 8.1, etc.) Internet Explorer versions 10, and 11 are supported for GPOGoogle Chrome browser required for Chrome GPO pushFirefox browser required for Firefox GPO pushbspAPAC.msi (main installer file for use with IE and Firefox)DisableUpdates.mst (optional transformation file for use suppressing update messages at client browsers with IE and Firefox)bspAPAC.xpi (plug-in for Firefox)Google Chrome CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search extension (automatically downloaded from the Chrome Webstore)These instructions have been designed for administrators who may not be that familiar with pushing installations via GPO. More experienced administrators should familiarise themselves with these steps and adapt them to fit their environment. For more information regarding pushing out installations via GPO, see Microsoft article How to use Group Policy to remotely install software in Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Server 2003.ProcedureThe steps below assume that the server infrastructure is running Windows Server 2012 and above.Important: If you are only installing the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search plug-in for Google Chrome, please skip to Step 9 below, since the plug-in is installed from the Chrome Webstore and is not dependent on the bspAPAC.msi file.Make sure that the endpoint workstations have been added to the domain.Add the File Server (if you are using one) and Workstations to the Domain.Log onto the File Server (if you are using one) or the Domain Controller as the Domain Administrator.On the File Server (or Domain controller if you do not have a File Server), create a network share (eg: Installers).Add the appropriate user Groups or Users to the share permissions and give them at least Read share level permissions.Within the share, create a folder (eg: ICSearch) to hold the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search installation file and/or Firefox plug-in file. This folder is known as the Distribution Point since it contains the installation and files that will be distributed to the workstations.Give the folder and any subfolders within the share at least Read & Execute permissions for the appropriate user Groups or Users. Note that if you are also installing the Firefox plug-in, you may wish to create a subfolder for the Firefox plug-in file (eg: \ICSearch\Firefox).Copy the bspAPAC.msi to the Distribution Point.If you created a separate subfolder for the Firefox plug-in file, copy bspAPAC.xpi to that folder.On the Domain Controller open Active Directory Users and Computers.Create an Organizational Unit (OU) that the new GPO will be applied to.Add the Workstations that will have CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search installed on them to the OU that you just created. Note that if you have a number of computers, you may also want to create a new group at the OU level and add the workstations to it.Open the Group Policy Management console.Find the OU you just created and choose Create a GPO in this domain, and Link it here.Give the GPO a name, such as: CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search IE or CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search Firefox or CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search Chrome.Click on Edit from the right-click context menu If you are installing the plug-in for Google Chrome, proceed to Step 22 below. For IE and Firefox, continue to the next step.Navigate: Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings > Software installation.In the right pane, right click and choose New > Package.Using an UNC path, navigate to the bspAPAC.msi file (eg: \\servername\sharename\ICSearch\bspAPAC.msi).Select the bspAPAC.msi file and click Open, then OK. Optionally, to suppress messages at client PC's when an update to BSP is available, proceed with the following steps:In the Deploy Software dialogue, change from the default of Assigned to Advanced before clicking OKWait for the dialogue CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search and select the Modifications tabClick the Add buttonUsing an UNC path, navigate to the DisableUpdates.mst (transformation) file (eg: \\servername\sharename\ICSearch\DisableUpdates.mst).Select the DisableUpdates.mst file and click Open, then OKIf you want to install the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search plug-in for IE, skip to Step 24. If you want to install the Google Chrome plug-in move to Step 22. If you want to install the Firefox plug-in move to Step 23.Google Chrome Plug-inThe CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search plug-in for Google Chrome is installed automatically from the Google Chrome store after pushing out a registry key via GPO:In the left pane, navigate: Computer Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > RegistryIn the right pane, right-click and choose: New > Registry ItemFrom the Action field drop-down choose: CreateMake sure the Hive lists HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEIn the Key Path enter the following:SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ExtensionInstallForcelistIn the Value name field enter: 1In the Value type field drop-down, choose: REG_SZIn the Value data field enter:gjbcdneiddldehcbdfbmmjfpakbjeegn; OK.Firefox Plug In23.If you want to install the Firefox plug-in:In the left pane, navigate: Computer Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > RegistryIn the right pane, right-click and choose: New > Registry ItemFrom the Action field drop-down choose: CreateMake sure the Hive lists HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEIn the Key Path enter the following for the appropriate version of Windows:32 bit: SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions64 bit: SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\ExtensionsIn the Value name field enter: bsp-apac@In the Value type field drop-down, choose: REG_SZIn the Value data field, enter the UNC path to the bspAPAC.xpi file, as in our example:\\servername\sharename\ICSearch\Firefox\bspAPAC.xpiClick OK.All BrowsersClose the Group Policy Management Editor. You should be back at the Group Policy Management Console.Make sure the new GPO is highlighted and double click it.In the right pane, under Security Filtering, a default entry, Authenticated Users is listed. Click on Remove to delete this entry.Click on Add.If your workstations were added to a group, skip to Step 31. If you are using individual computer names, click on Object Types.Check Computers.Click OK.Click on Advanced.Click on Find Now.Select your Group or Computer Names.Click on OK.Your Group or Computers should be listed in the object name window. Highlight your group or computer(s) and click OK.To force immediate processing of the GPO over the network, open a CMD window and type: gpupdate.To test your GPO deployment, log onto a workstation within the OU you created in Step 10 above using your Domain Administrator credentials.To force the GPO to the workstation, open a CMD window and type: gpupdateOnce the Group Policy Update completes, reboot the computer.Before the login page displays, you should see the message Please wait possibly for up to a few minutes. This indicates that CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search is installing.Log onto the computer as a Domain User:Internet ExplorerFor Internet Explorer, a second reboot initiated by the Domain User may be required to complete the process commenced at Step 36 above.Launch Internet Explorer.A message may appear at the bottom of the browser, similar to: “The ‘CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search’ add-on from ‘CCH AUSTRALIA LIMITED’ is ready for use.”. Click Enable.Close Internet Explorer and restart it.Go to Step 42.ChromeLaunch ChromeA small grey WK APAC logo should be visible adjacent to the right hand end of the address bar and to the left of the menu button. This signifies the installation of the Chrome extension and that it is ready to useGo to Step 42.FirefoxLaunch Firefox.The user will need to enable the plug-in. Note: Firefox users may experience one of two different scenarios after the plug-in has been pushed, see a. and b. below:If prompted on the Firefox start page that CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search “would like to modify Firefox with an add-on”, check the Allow this installation checkbox and click Continue.You will be prompted that You must restart Firefox to finish installing this add-on.Click Restart Firefox. Go to step 42.The User receives no message about CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search:On the Firefox start page click on Add-ons > Extensions or click on Open Menu > Add-ons > ExtensionsAt CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search, click on Enable.Click Restart Firefox.Go to Step 42.To initially configure CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search, perform a Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., search using a search term like Income Tax:A CCH IntelliConnect ? Search item should appear near the top of the search results page indicating that it is turned off.Click the Off slider to expand a pane that displays the User Name/Password entry fields. Enter your CCH IntelliConnect credentials.Once configured, CCH IntelliConnect search results should appear in the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search window.Try a couple of Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. searches (i.e.: Income Tax, Estate Tax, etc.).Make sure the CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search window displays IntelliConnect search results.Make sure you can link from CCH IntelliConnect Browser Search results to IntelliConnect. ................
