Developed unit from a "paper organization" to an active research and public service organization with a full-time equivalent staff of five and 30-40 faculty members participating in sponsored programs each year. Responsibilities included proposal writing, contract administration, relations with area businesses and government agencies, editing, technical assistance to faculty and graduate students, and administrative oversight of research, publications, faculty colloquia, reference library, several specialty institutes (Small Business, International Business, Real Estate, Financial Institutions, Market Research, and Labor-Management Cooperation), conference and laboratory facilities, and continuing management education programs. Total annual budget in later years was approximately $300 thousand - one third, general fund and two thirds, grants, gifts, and contracts.

Rotary Club of Toledo/Toledo Rotary Foundation

General administrative responsibilities in a 500-member service club with a foundation with approximately $2.5 million in assets, contributing $150-200 thousand annually to community and international projects. Combined budget of both organizations is approximately $500,000/yr. with 3 FTE employees and nearly 200 volunteers. Specific achievements during tenure included revamping member and external communications (including website and e-mail), installing a new accounting system, policy development and constitutional amendments related to membership, committee structure, and foundation procedures (including incorporation), and revision of insurance coverage.

The Andersons, Maumee, OH

The Andersons is a diversified agribusiness firm with operations in farm supplies, grain marketing, transportation equipment leasing, and general merchandise retailing in the Midwest. Prior to incorporation in 1985, company management developed this social policy committee to include family members, employees, and one community representative. Duties consisted of periodically reviewing the company's "Statement of Principles" and formulating advice in response to complaints from customers, employees, and regulatory agencies questioning policies and practices alleged to violate that statement.

Worked with several committees regarding Model Cities Program, 1969-1971; was a principal author of two sections of the City's original proposal (dealing with employment and evaluation) and directed three studies in conjunction with the evaluation of the program. Volunteer consultation to Mayor, City Manager, department heads, and citizens groups with respect to economic development and related programs.
