Crossroads MinistriesFULL TIME STAFF MANUALEIGHT IMPORTANT AREAS Allow God’s love to fill us dailyPrayer coveringKey mentoring relationshipsMinistry partnership teamStrong committeeStarting and growing clubsRecruiting and training volunteersRecruiting pastorsAs a full time Crossroads staff each of these guidelines is vital to maintain a strong outreach over many years. Weekly goals need to be set in each of these areas and accountability must be implemented so that you will continue to see growth in these areas. 1. ALLOW GOD'S LOVE TO FILL US DAILYMost importantly, do not allow the burning fire in your heart for the Lord to be quenched. As you daily rest in the Father's presence, He will renew your passion for Him and those around you, starting with the family.? A great verse is Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."? Wow that is amazing love, unconditional love! Thank you Father!Another wonderful verse is I John 4:9 - "We love because HE first loved us."? As you rest in His presence and receive His love then you are daily empowered to love those around you. “Stop for the one” is a famous quote by missionary, Heidi Baker. Stop to love the one that God brings across your path. We are able to “stop for the one” because God stopped to love us, unconditionally and eternally. For an awakening to occur in a group of students, parents, or community, the fire must remain lit on the altar of our heart. As the fire of love and revelation from His Holy Spirit and His Word is burning brightly, and as we daily receive from the unending flow of God's never changing, overwhelming, unconditional love, WE BECOME AN UNSTOPPABLE FORCE. 2. PRAYER COVERINGAnother very important part of this ministry is building a team of intercessors who will continually pray for God to bring awakening in the schools, associated families, and churches. One vital form of prayer covering can be initiated through weekly emails to key prayer partners around your community.? In addition to the weekly prayer emails, you can coordinate monthly prayer, fellowship, and worship rallies in order to build relationships with the intercessors and update them on campus growth. Another key goal of the Crossroads prayer team it is to train and coordinate parents’ prayer groups.? This has proven to be a very powerful tool in impacting school campuses with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.? An organization called “Moms in Prayer” is a great resource to train these prayer groups. Our goal is not to only have?mothers praying together but also to coordinate dad's prayer groups to pray weekly or bi-weekly over their children and the school campuses.? Incredible power is released when you have parents praying together for their youth. Also, train students to pray on the school campuses. These are just of few of the ideas possible to coordinate and train prayer partners for the Crossroads outreach in the schools and the community.? Lord, raise up a powerful prayer covering in and around every crossroads campus club.??3. KEY MENTORING RELATIONSHIPSYou should be aware that God is calling you to be? mentored by others each week, develop peer mentor relationships (even other staffers in other cities) and mentor key volunteers, youth pastors etc. Walking in a spirit of humility, honor, and unity?is crucial to maintaining strong relationships over the long term and is a vital part of maintaining a strong outreach in a community over many years. 4. ? FINANCIAL/MINISTRY PARTNERS There are two different models we are drawing wisdom from. The first one is more inside-out and the second one is more outside-in. The inside-out model is used by many missionary organizations.? For example, Campus Crusade for Christ, The Navigators, and Inter Varsity, all train their staffers to raise their own support ‘inside out model’.? The Crossroads support manual describes the process in some detail. The essence of the model is staff going on face to face appointments with individuals to challenge them to become partners with Crossroads financially and in prayer.? Campus Crusade for Christ 'CCC' uses this model and raises over a hundred million dollars a year for their US staff members alone.? Every staff member will be responsible to raise their own staff salary.? This model is a very proven and effective model. But in addition, Crossroads will employ an outside-in approach which is used very effectively by Young Life for example.? This approach creates a committee made up of parents, pastors, business leaders and concerned citizens who will help the Crossroads staff member raise up a financial, volunteer and prayer foundation for the Crossroads youth outreach in their community.? A banquet will be organized; a possible golf tournament and other large scale city-wide fund raisers will be used to raise the finances for the Crossroads youth outreach to the city. Crossroads believes that by using and training with both methods, a better fund raising model will be created which attracts more community/church involvement and an individual based support team. This will help insure that God's Crossroads community youth outreach will be in place many years down the road. 5. STRONG COMMITTEE Ask the Lord to bring together an amazing group of adults who are committed to awakening among the youth of their city. Now that takes faith! This will happen "not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord." A key way to do this is to find senior pastors who already seek God for awakening in their community.? If the senior pastors are unable to join the committee then ask for their recommendation of someone who carries the senior pastor’s?heart and ear.? In addition, you must ask the Lord to highlight key people who have God's heart for awakening the youth and community. For example, key business leaders, parents, intercessors,?key volunteer leaders,?youth pastors and others who carry God's heart for the youth of their community.? The key with each committee member is to discover their passions and place them in areas they can use their gifts for the growth of the kingdom. Three areas of focus for the citywide committee are 1) first, the recruitment and training of prayer partners (parents prayer groups,? individual intercessors etc), 2) second, financial partner development (individuals, churches & fund raising events) and 3) third, the recruitment and training of volunteers (campus club workers, student mentors etc.)? A strong committee allows a Crossroads community outreach to flourish for many years. 6. STARTING CLUBSStarting a Crossroads campus club is fairly simple. We have a Crossroads club manual online which explains how to start one legally.? The door is wide open because of the Equal Access Act passed in1984 for any student-initiated Christian club. The law states that a school which allows any extracurricular clubs to be on campus must also allow Christian clubs.? These clubs MUST be students initiated and student led to have an open door to meet on school campuses.?Thus, the best way to receive permission to start a Christian club is to have students ask their school principal.? Thus, you or a volunteer are really coaches to the student leaders. This makes praying and raising up strong youth leaders very important. 7. RECRUIT and TRAIN VOLUNTEERS The most important factor in finding good volunteers is to ask your Heavenly Father to raise up workers because “the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few,” as stated in Matthew 9:37,38. As we pray and recruit others to intercede, Father God has promised to raise up many passionate workers.? Just as Jesus was a catalyst of awakening, we desire our heavenly Father to raise up volunteers who are catalysts of awakening.? What kind of worker or volunteer are we looking for??? The number one quality that God is looking for in a volunteer is a person who is passionate in their pursuit of HIM.? Their number one goal in life is to love God with all their heart, with all their soul, with their entire mind, with all their strength, and simply walk with God and HIS first commandment!? A great volunteer is someone who lives out of an overflowing thankful heart. They have a heart that is filled up on the love of God and are therefore able to love others unconditionally. The second most important quality in a?great volunteer is someone who connects with other people in a real and deep way. Ministry is not a goal or agenda but a lifestyle.? Because they are filled up with God they naturally spend time with and mentor other volunteers and students.?They place relationships with other people above their earthly goals and ambitions. A volunteer who is in love with the father will naturally?be in love with the people around them.? It should be a focus of each week that you would rally the volunteers together to eat and fellowship in the presence of God. In this time, you could stir their passions for the Lord, each other, and the students.? 8. RECRUIT PASTORS A major key in all the above guidelines is to hear the voice of God.? It says in John 10, “My sheep hear my voice.” Thus, in developing relationships with the youth pastors and senior pastors, you must hear from God who are the pastors with hearts to see awakening in the schools and the community. You should visit youth pastor networks and senior pastor networks in the communities where there are crossroads clubs. The more churches we recruit the stronger the Crossroads club outreach in your community will be. In the past, we have seen the danger of one church carrying the load of the outreach.? But with many churches involved, the enemy will not know which church or pastor to target and thus the impact of the outreach will be much greater in the school and community at large.? However, the key in every situation will be to discern the voice of the Lord and to execute His plan for the campus club in that school according to His will.? Finding pastors with a heart for awakening and kingdom growth is crucial to building powerful community/school outreaches.? If you find a group of pastors who have been praying together, they are often pastors who can work together to grow God's kingdom in their communities. In conclusion, Lord help us to live in a supernatural lifestyle that carries your presence and power which will allow us to hear your voice and implement the above eight areas. Thank you Father that we see these outreaches develop and flourish “not by might, nor by power but by YOUR Spirit.” Lord, give us your passion and love to reach as many as youth as possible, here and around the world. ................
