Attendance: Council Members Ronnie Fussell and Michael Corrigan

Guests: Kirk Sherman, Janice Billy, Kyle Billy and Kim Taylor – Council Auditor’s Office; Council Secretary Cheryl Brown; Alan Mosley, Chief Administrative Officer; Bob Johnson, Mayor’s Office; Miami-Dade County Commissioners Carlos Gimenez and Joe Martinez; Miami-Dade Commission Auditor Charles Anderson; Ines Beecher, Budget Coordinator, Office of the Commission Auditor; Frank Balzebre, Commission Aide; Zaba Castro, Esq., Director of Policy and Legislation

The meeting was called to order at 12:01 p.m.

Council President Fussell discussed the Jacksonville Journey anti-crime program included in the new budget and that this is the year to appoint a new charter revision commission.

Commissioner Gimenez asked about the impact of foreclosures on tax revenues. Council President Fussell discussed ad valorem taxes as well as sales taxes, and the creation of 2,000 new jobs from companies such as Alenia and Deutsche Bank.

Commissioner Martinez discussed Miami’s form of government.

Former Council Auditor Bob Johnson talked about the establishment of the Council Auditor’s Office and early challenges.

Council Member Corrigan, Finance Committee Chairman, discussed the City Budget Process.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:26 p.m.
