The Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services Branch of Health and Social Services has launched an integrated program aimed at improving access to mental wellness and substance use programs, services and supports. A critical component of this initiative is our enhanced community program built around four collaborative teams based in HUB communities along with additional resources in smaller communities.

Reporting to the Manager, Communities, Mental Wellness & Substance Use Services (MWSUS), the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations of quality clinical services. The Community MWSUS Program provides a full range of assessment, treatment, early intervention and aftercare support services to individuals of all ages, in rural Yukon, experiencing a personal or family crisis, and those experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems. The Clinical Supervisor will be managing Master’s level clinicians, Bachelor’s level counsellors, Mental Health Nurses, and Support Workers as part of a multidisciplinary team, based in multiple communities outside of Whitehorse.

Clinical Supervisors work collaboratively with the Managers and Director to establish guidelines for practice and emerging best practices in the field of mental health and substance use, including screening, assessment, treatment, consultation and education. The position will involve responsibility for program development reflective of community needs, clinical supervision, direction and training, file audits, and other quality assurance and improvement initiatives. Registration with a professional body is an asset, and the Clinical Supervisor will be required to provide direct client service.

As part of the Mental Wellness & Substance Use management team, the Clinical Supervisor will collaborate in branch and program planning and evaluation activities. The Clinical Supervisor will also play an important role in developing and strengthening partnerships with local First Nations programs and other service providers, to ensure the right community, professional and cultural supports/services are in place in order to maximize the wellness and success of the individuals accessing services.
