NBCU: 450 HOURS+ OF OLYMPICS COVERAGE

THREE CABLE NETS, NBC & ONLINE

With PyeongChang, South Korea 14 hours out of sync with U.S. Eastern Standard Time, NBC Olympics will be relying heavily on its NBCUniversal cable networks for coverage--both live and tape delayed--of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. With NBCSN as the lead cable network, joined by CNBC and USA Network, NBC Olympics plans to air more than 450 hours of coverage of the Winter Games on cable. NBC's primetime coverage of the Olympics begins Thursday, February 8, followed by the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 9. Details of Olympics programming on the broadcast network are to be announced in the coming weeks.

NBCSN will feature 10 days of wall-to-wall 24-hour coverage and televise 368.5 hours in all. That's up about 60% from 230 hours of the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. For the first time ever, NBCSN will present live primetime coverage of a Winter Olympics, airing nearly every night throughout the Games. Coverage begins on NBCSN Wednesday, February 7, at 11 PM ET--two days before the Opening Ceremony--with live coverage of mixed doubles curling, which makes its Olympic debut in PyeongChang. NBCSN will feature live coverage of the men's and women's hockey gold medal finals. It will also air gold medal finals in biathlon, bobsled, cross-country skiing, luge, Nordic combined, short track, ski jumping, snowboarding, and speed skating.

CNBC will televise 46 hours of curling and hockey coverage over 12 days, beginning Monday, February 12, and concluding Friday, February 23. Stock trading will be over each day's as CNBC's curling coverage airs 5-8 PM ET, except for Sunday, February 18, when coverage will air from 4-7 PM ET. The gold medal final of mixed doubles curling is set for Tuesday, February 13. Live primetime men's and women's hockey coverage will air from 10 PM to 12:30 AM ET on February 14-16 and February 20.

USA will present 40.5 hours of hockey and curling coverage throughout the Games, the majority of which will be shown live. Coverage begins Saturday, February 10, with a live presentation of the women's hockey qualifying round. Coverage will air 7-9:30 AM ET on most mornings. On some days, USA's Olympic coverage will span 2:309:30 AM ET windows.

and the NBC Sports app will provide authenticated live streaming of all NBCSN, CNBC and USA Network coverage.

NBC Sports has already predicted a double-digit rise in advertising sales for the South Korea games from the $850 million in ad revenue from tPhAeGSEo1chi, Russia games four years ago. NBCUniversal owns the U.S. media rights wonwwal.lCpalabltefoSrpmostst.otvall Olympic Games through 2032.

It expects "aggressive marketing and advertising...will begin to roll out early next year which we believe will position us for improved performance"...... to offer discounts on third-party merchandise in an effort to keep prices low enough to compete with low-cost rivals such as Walmart. Listings on the website where Amazon is discounting the merchandise read "This item is sold by a third-party seller. The discount is provided by Amazon." Generally, third-party sales are more profitable for Amazon, as it does not have to carry the inventory and it's been estimated that about 70% of Amazon sales are actually done by third-party sellers. Also, in a separate note, Supermarket News says Amazon is cutting the fee it charges sellers of low-priced shelf-stable grocery items, another move to keep prices competitive. It had been charging 15%, but will reduce the fee to 8% for items under $15.

A Los Angeles-based automotive group will pay $1.4 million for violating an order from the Federal Trade Commission about false advertising of financing terms. The Conant Auto Group had been advertising that customers could lease a vehicle with no payment upfront, but the FTC contended that the advertised price did not include large fees and other costs. The dealership group says it continues to believe the FTC charges were without merit, and the settlement payment was for an amount that it would have needed to spend for its legal defense.
