ORLANDO Downtown Orlando drivers who use I4 should expect addtional traffic delays soon.

The Florida Departement of Transportation hosted a community meeting at the Orange County Public Schools building Wednesday night. FDOT officials explained how the I4 Ultimate construction project will soon impact downtown Orlando.

We're told drivers will soon see temporary roadways, bridges and ramps, causing traffic pattern changes and shifts. That includes the permanent closure of the exit ramp from eastbound I4 to Ivanhoe Boulevard.

"Some things you'll start noticing right now," said Jessica Keane with FDOT. "We're putting signs up and then after that we're going to be doing more shoulder work, putting up erosion fences, things like that just to prep the road. Right now, we do have our maintainance crew going along the corridor and doing pothole repairs, things like that, just really prepping for construction."

The $2.3 billion improvement project is expected to be completed by 2021.
