Daily Memo from EAGLE College Prep Purpose of this memo is to communicate with EAGLE Prep schools staff and students regarding actions and upcoming activities during the Coronavirus School Disruption.Date: DATE \@ "dddd, MMMM d, yyyy" Friday, April 3, 2020The five “Ls”: Remember to utilize EAGLE five values as we not only persevere but grow during this difficult time. Loving – support each other Learning – focus our efforts on continuing our scholars’ learningLeading – go above and beyond for our familiesLasting – develop systems that are effective for the long-termLaughing – find the time to enjoy the little thingsDuration of Closure: EAGLE College Prep Schools will continue to align with local school districts and state and local government regarding any potential return to school. We will continue working on plans for when students return and plans if our students do not return before the end of the school year. While our traditional brick and mortar schools are closed, this closure does NOT affect EAGLE’s virtual learning plans.?We look forward to watching our EAGLE scholars continue to soar in their virtual classrooms.Curricular Activities: Teachers will be completing training on how to use Google Classroom Monday through Wednesday of this week. Their training will prepare them to create virtual classrooms to teach our scholars. A virtual education model has been developed by staff. This model will provide guidance to staff as they implement their online classrooms.Device distribution was completed yesterday. We will continue to monitor device and internet access needs of our scholars.Educating Students with Disabilities: As you know, U.S. Department of Education has released guidance regarding educating children with disabilities. This is not true.? Here is a link in case you want to post on your school's Facebook page and help clear up any confusion: DESE newsOffice Hours: For the duration of these school closures, our school staff are expected to have availability during regular school/business hours. While the location of work may be different, our availability will remain as close to the same as possible. Meals: Meal distribution began the week of March 23. As of today, more than 20,000 meals have been distributed to St. Louis families. We continue to share the latest information on our website relating to meal assistance. Internet Access Resources: Information to support our families’ access to internet has been posted on our website. New information has been added for families who are homeless or moving to a new home. This access will be critical as we move to comprehensive virtual education.Virtual Public Library Resources: The St. Louis County Library has indicated they would be happy to make library cards for St. Louis City students to help during this unprecedented time.? These cards will offer access to nearly all the St. Louis County Library's online resources, including databases, e-books, and e-media. Information about this program has been posted on our website.Family Resources: The link below includes information for families that are experiencing housing issues or who are interested in rent assistance.? Communications: Please contact your school if you experience any issues with your access to EAGLE communications. Also, don’t forget that enrollment is open for the 2020-2021 school year.
