ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE OXY FUND- PARENT GIVINGInstitutional AdvancementPOSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Director of The Oxy Fund – Parent Giving will report directly to the Director of The Oxy Fund and work closely with the Associate Director of the Oxy Fund, Volunteer Programs. This position will oversee all fundraising efforts related to parents, including the Parents Council, and act as a liaison between the Oxy Fund and Career Center for purposes of parent engagement. The Assistant Director will also manage members of the Leadership Giving committee, which focuses heavily on peer-to-peer solicitations. In addition, the Assistant Director will build and implement a framework to support increased leadership level gifts through customized solicitations, events, volunteer outreach, and targeted stewardship. The Assistant Director will maintain a portfolio of leadership alumni prospects, conduct discovery visits, and collaborate with Oxy Fund colleagues to develop campaigns by mail, email, and phone for the parent and leadership donor constituencies. SUMMARY OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALSParent Fundraising Initiatives (50%)Build and implement a framework for parent philanthropy at Oxy, working with Alumni & Parent Engagement, Donor Stewardship, Major Gifts and the Career Center to create collaborative strategies that encourage engagement and sustained leadership level support from the Oxy parent community. Establish annual fundraising goals, objectives, and projections for all parent donors, as well as the Parents Council. Monitor, analyze and evaluate giving patterns, and use these metrics to inform projections, goals, and campaign strategy.Serve as a liaison between the Oxy Fund and the Hameetman Career Center, to leverage career programming and mentorship opportunities as a way to deepen parent engagement Work with Oxy Fund, Individual Gifts and Advancement Services Colleagues to identify key prospects for Parents Council leadership positions. Create a framework for encouraging leadership support from first year parents, using research from Advancement Services to inform strategy. Plan and oversee the Parents Leadership Dinner during Orientation, and the Parents Council Breakfast during Homecoming Weekend. Partner with Alumni & Parent Engagement to plan cultivation events for parents in key regions. Under the general direction of the Director of The Oxy Fund, plan, coordinate, and supervise the fundraising efforts of the Parents Council.Work closely with members of The Oxy Fund team to develop messaging for parents via direct mail, email, and Telefund. Personally contact parents to solicit annual gifts and multi-year commitments at the leadership level ($1,000) and above. Leadership Giving (40%) Partner with Alumni & Parent Engagement and the Office of Donor Stewardship, to identify opportunities to elevate support at or above the leadership level of $1,000 - through events, curation of giving societies, targeted mailings and stewardship pieces, etc…Work with Oxy Fund colleagues to plan and implement strategic fundraising initiatives for leadership volunteers that are consistent with overarching volunteer goals and strategies.Work with Oxy Fund and Individual Gifts colleagues to identify key prospects for volunteer leadership positions, and develop strategies around prospect engagement and cultivation in a leadership volunteer capacity. Employ a system of metrics to determine effectiveness of peer-to-peer solicitation strategies, and measure success year over year. Prepare and distribute reports on a regular basis to update volunteers and staff on results of fundraising activities.Identify, recruit, train and manage leadership giving volunteers via in person visits, conference calls, on-campus trainings webinars, etc… Assist in planning the fall Volunteer Leadership Conference. Solicit leadership level prospects ($1,000 +) through in person visits, phone conversations, and email exchanges. Additional Duties (10%)Advise and assist in writing, coordinating and segmenting solicitation letters to volunteer constituencies, with special focus on parent segments.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree. 2-3 years of related professional experience.Experience working in higher education development and/or volunteer management, strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability in effective project management strongly preferred.Ability to work effectively in a team environment—with a mix of faculty, parents, alumni and staff colleagues. Excellent oral and written communications skills.Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
