POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT(S)POSITION TITLE:Student Success CoachPOSITION DESCRIPTION:Counsels students in the areas of careers, education, and personal planning. Works with students to evaluate interests, complete career assessments, develop successful academic goals, manage social and personal problems, and educate them about available community agencies and resources. Creates, promotes, and maintains a seamless transition across campus between departments, programs, and faculty regarding student retention. Develops and maintains strategies and initiatives to improve retention and graduation rates. Acts as coordinator for various areas and serves on committees and task forces. Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested. MAJOR DUTIES:Counsels students individually or in groups and provides crisis intervention counseling.Promotes counseling availability to students to encourage appointments.Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Institutional Effectiveness, Administrative Services departments, faculty, and staff to facilitate academic progress review and implement innovative retention programs and services for new, at-risk, and enrolled students.Develops relationships with community partnerships and outside referral services.Coordinates and/or provides supportive services to support academic persistence and success.Coordinates, tracks, reports, and uses retention data research and analysis, using Banner, KMS and other resources, to identify obstacles to student achievement and retention.Collaborates with Student Navigator to work with students through TEAMS to ensure success.Designs, coordinates, and targets new intervention services, programs, and initiatives focused on student retention and development.Functions as part of an early alert team to support college persistence and retention.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of counseling, educational administration, special needs, vocational leadership or a related fieldA minimum of three (3) years of related experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of counseling, educational administration, special needs, vocational leadership or a related fieldLicensure as a professional counselor (LPC) from a state or national certifying associationPrior experience in a higher education or technical college counseling centerSALARY/BENEFITS:Commensurate with qualifications.
