Amador Community College Foundation Meeting Minutes Thursday, November 19, 2020Lynn Morgan called the regular public meeting of the Amador Community College Foundation to order on Thursday, November 19, 2020 via Zoom Meeting at 4:34 p.m.Roll Call: Maureen Angle, Frank Leschinsky, John Tillman, Lynn Morgan, Craig Burman, Paul Molinelli, Frank Axe, Annette Solis Rios, John Ellyson, Serena Acierto, Janice Davis and Susan Zaffarano. Staff: Rachelle Saldate and Nickie CroftsPublic Comments: There were no public commentsORGANIZATION:The Board acknowledged the motion passed via email to purchase banner through Merzlak Signs for approximately $200. This banner would advertise donating to ACCF for the Giving Tuesday Event. The discussion included whether this purchase was made or not by Karen. Lynn will follow-up with Karen to give the Board an update via email of the status of this potential purchase.Nickie presented her written report to the Board from the period of October 16, 2020-November 19, 2020. The report center activity included a new column showing students currently enrolled by specific participating institution. There are currently 78 total students enrolled. New students registered in the ACC database being 3. During this time period the center had 13 general visitors, and 21 student visitors. There were 24 in person appointments, 5 zoom/phone appointments, 23 email or phone inquiries were received, 16 current MHSA Scholarship students and there are 2 current ECE apprentices (with 3 new applicants). Nickie hosted an Academic Writing Workshop on November 5th on the topics of writing at the college level and using APA and MLA formats. Nickie reported that Live Broadcast classes through Columbia College for Spring 2021 will be held online via synchronous video. Spring class offerings are available now. The Newsletter has been finalized and was sent on November 18th. Rachelle emailed her Executive Director report to the Board highlighting her activities. Rachelle reported on her several meetings she has attended on behalf of ACCF. Rachelle informed the Board that the degree program list for the center has been updated including the removal of Allan Hancock programs and the addition of the California Virtual Campus. At the time of the meeting, the October minutes were not available for Board Members to approve. The October minutes will be emailed to Board Members by Susan for review and email approval.Craig presented the Board with the November 2020 month by month budget summary. The November 18th balance from El Dorado Savings was $71,737. The balance of the Umpqua account was $6,430. Therefore our total funding amount available is $78,167. There were no new additions to the balance. Craig reported our taxes for 2019 have been completed by H & R Block and Mary Louise Nixon. Ms. Nixon charged ACCF $500 for the filing but gifted back $250. Expenditures are beginning to wind down with the end of Fall registration period. Advertising for the Spring registration has begun on TV. John T. led the discussion of the Fundraising Team’s update. Due to COVID restrictions, ACCF will not have a table at the Giving Tuesday Event. The event will not be held in a format that would allow for tables to be available for organizations. Advertising for the Giving Tuesday Event will include social media and mailing postcards to previous donors. Maureen will be mailing these postcards to past donors. There was not an update on Gold Country services/contract as Craig and Kelly have not had the opportunity to meet. This item will be placed on the January agenda. The Board continued the discussion of the Strategic Planning Meeting. The discussion included postponing the meeting, the importance of an in-person meeting for this type of meeting and the challenges a Zoom meeting would be to accomplish setting goals/action plans, etc. This item will be placed on the January agenda. The Board began the discussion of a virtual formatted fundraiser. The discussion focused on ideas of what would be a possibility for a fundraiser of this type. This item will be placed on the January agenda. Susan reported that beginning in January the monthly Board Meeting agendas, the recently approved minutes and the ACCF Meeting dates will be available on our website. Susan will contact Brittany to determine what needs to done to make this happen. The Board formally thanked Serena for her time, effort and success in securing a Jackson Rancheria Grant.The Board formally recognized and thanked Meg for successfully securing a grant from Umpqua Bank. FUND DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE REPORT:John T. presented information on the Giving Tuesday Event earlier in the meeting. STRATEGIC PARTNERS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS REPORT:The update on Facebook ads will be placed on the January agenda. Maureen thanked the Board Members for their participation in the Thank-a-thon event. PROGRAM OPERATIONS COMMITTEE REPORTS:Board Discussion: Continued item discussion of expanding ACCF services through advertising, outreach, etc. to Calaveras County. This will be a reoccurring agenda item but due to the current COVID circumstances, this item will be tabled until a later date. COMMITTEE MEMBER INTIATIVES: Janice let the Board know that Rachelle’s evaluation has been completed and she has earned a $2.00 raise. Janice thanked Craig and Annette for assisting with this evaluation. Janice updated the Board with information that will be followed if our county goes into the purple tier. There will not be any in-person meetings if our county is the purple tier. Janice reminded the Board that we have volunteers that are available to participate in the center’s activities. Annette shared concerns for Nickie’s safety when working late at the center. Janice volunteered to meet with Nickie and Rachelle to begin to address this issue. ADJOURNMENT: The Zoom meeting was adjourned at 5:33 pm. The next regular public meeting is scheduled for January 21, 2021 at 4:30 pm via Zoom. ................
