Hunting Season normally runs from October-February for deer and from April-May for turkey. Fishing is permitted from 10:00am until 3:00pm when hunting parties are on the ranch or you may stay on the lake you are on until absolutely completely dark and come off the ranch with the hunters. Super Lake may be fished without restriction year-round. Pay attention to email and website updates found at During hunting season, the hunting schedule will be posted on the website and sent to you by email. On scheduled hunt dates, fishermen must wait until 9:30am to leave for any lake other than Super Lake and must be off the lakes (except Super Lake) in order to be back into the boat storage area or the ranch headquarters by 3:45pm or you may stay on the lake you are on and come off with the hunters when it is absolutely completely dark. On days with no scheduled hunting then normal lease guidelines apply. FISH SAFETY:1. Wet your hands before touching the fish! a. Each fish has a mucous coating on the outside, called its "slime coat”. That coat is its first line of defense against disease. Dry hands dislodge and remove the slime. Keep your hands wet. b. Make sure you have no lotion, sunscreen, or bug repellent on your hands. These products will compromise the fish's slime coat. The slime coat is a media and can transfer chemicals into the fish. 2. For Bass weighing less than five pounds. a. Use a fish gripper or you hand. If using you hand, with your dominant hand, grip the fish with your thumb inside the mouth and your fingers locked on the outside of the mouth. b. Hold the bass vertically by the lower jaw. Never try to hold a fish horizontally by its lower jaw. 3. For Bass weighing more than five pounds. a. Be prepared, have a good dip net available. The rubber dip nets are the best, knotted nylon nets are abrasive and injure all species of fish. Have a good set of needle nose pliers, always. b. If no net is available, guide the fish to the boat or dock, kneel down and lip it with wet hands and use your off hand to cradle the fish under its belly. c. Lift the fish out of the water in a horizontal position using both hands for support. d. Never hold a large bass by its lower jaw only. Jaws of large fish can easily be dislocated if its mouth is opened too wide or there's too much weight on the jaw.4. The "30 second" rule. a. Don't keep a fish out of water longer than 30 seconds.5. Do everything you can to remove the hook without damaging tissue. a. Do not let your fish bounce on the ground or on the deck of a boat. b. If you deep hook a fish, keep sturdy pliers at hand to cut the hook. If you can cut the hook, it will be much easier to remove from the fish. c. If you can't get the hook out, cut the hook, cut the line and gently push the hook downward into the gullet. d. If the hook is stuck in a gill arch, exercise extreme caution. Those red gill filaments are highly vascular and bleed easily. Once a fish bleeds, its odds of survival drop significantly. e. Unlike humans, fish blood coagulates much more quickly when the fish is in water. ................
