Jennifer DavitoProf. GettoEnglish 6715Final ProjectNovember 23, 2020During this semester, I have learned several processes of Technical Communication in this class. A technical writer is someone who writes about technical topics, then explains them in in plain language for the reader to understand. There are four basic skill sets needed to be a technical writer: knowledge of technology, writing ability, organizational skills, and detective and people skills. We also learned about Subject Matter Experts, the people developing a product and are the most important source of information for the writer. It’s important to really get to know the experts/developers to best communicate their product. The User Experience is the emotions and attitudes involved in using a particular product and how the user interacts with it. Usability assesses how easy interfaces are to use, and is defined by 5 quality components: learnability, efficiency, memorability, errors, and satisfaction.A content audit is defined as the quantitative view of the websites content. With most organizations having brand guidelines they’re concerned with graphics and logo, and sends the right message for their brand. This final project will demonstrate the skills learned throughout the semester……….Executive SummaryIn progress…Audience PersonaA manager of some sort…………..Documentation PlanPerson completing the doc plan: Jennifer DavitoDate completed: 11/16/2020Project OverviewProduct name: Biden/HarrisProduct code name: URLBrief product description: Campaign websiteProject status page:Business requirements doc:Other product documents:Business GroupOrganization: Biden Harris 2020Business Group: Team: Joe Biden, Kamala HarrisProduct TeamProduct Manager: Jennifer DavitoProject Manager: Pumpkin DavitoSoftware Developers: CatQuality Assurance: Papa DavitoMarketing: M. I researched candidates to get as much information as I could in order to decide on who I decided to vote for. For such an important election, I was surprised to find so much lacking on this website. In 2008, Obama appealed to many undecided voters by utilizing Youtube to promote and tell a story about himself. In a digital age, we no longer have to sit through debates or watch commercials to decide on our candidate, we can do our own research and make our decision. And with so much misinformation out there, its even more important to have a polished, user friendly, and content rich website for voters to make an informed decision.I noticed quite a few changes were made to the website after the first time I reviewed it a few days ago. Before you can get to the homepage of you will see a popup to donate before you can continue to the website. There isn’t a lot of detail on the homepage and I don’t care for the menu bar. I would rather see tabs with each item on the menu. 66675624205Insert menu toolbar here00Insert menu toolbar here127635044323000These are the options under the menu bar:On the homepage there are several video clips of statements Biden has made recently. To summarize, I would add a Q & A or an FAQ section. It would be more direct and to the point rather than the story telling videos.Joe’s Vision- There are many topics covered under this tab. There are 48 separate topics if you would like to explore further. You will need to scroll down to see all the content.Joe’s Story- I really like the way the did the timeline, it is very clear and easy to read. I would only change the contrast a little bit as there is a lot of blue on the page. Under the Coalitions tab there are several categories to promote diversity. You will have to sign up to receive updates for your group of interest. There are a few different places where you can check your voter registration status. You can go to the top of the page, or in the menu by clicking on the “How to Vote” tab. Here you will find your voter registration status and polling place. The “Store” has everything from your regular apparel to mugs and even some signs for video games. Unfortunately, the fly swatters have been sold out. I’m glad to see they made some much-needed changes to the website. As a voter, I feel that I can come here to have my questions answered. It may be beneficial to also add affiliations or hyperlinks to related sites.Summary of ChangesGet rid of the Home tab, it’s too mysterious, and the way the topics are laid out looks unpolished. Each topic should be transparent with its own tab to navigate into. The Home page should include related links for additional research, an FAQ section, and display the videos in a video library. There is a lot of blue on the website, some darker contrasting will appear more polished. The timeline looks great, the only thing I would change on that is the color of the train to make it pop out in each section. Overall, I feel that the website serves its purpose for voters in this very important election. ................
