Call to Order

• A quorum was reached at 2:22 pm.

Agenda

• Johnny Helms made the motion to adopt the agenda for the meeting as presented. Barbara Melvin seconded the motion, and the agenda was approved.

Minutes of March 1, 2017, Meeting

• The meeting minutes of March 1, 2017, were presented. Barbara Melvin made the motion to accept the minutes, and the motion was seconded by Johnny Helms. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Minutes of April 5, 2017, Meeting

• The meeting minutes of April 5, 2017, were presented. Augusto Sanabria made the motion to accept the minutes, and the motion was seconded by Janet Harris-Lange. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Minutes of May 3, 2017 Meeting

• The meeting minutes of May 3, 2017, were presented. Barbara Melvin made the motion to accept the minutes, and the motion was seconded by Johnny Helms. The minutes were approved unanimously.

Public Comments

• None

Office of Supplier Diversity Update

• Hue Reynolds, OSD Executive Director, provided a brief update on OSD activities.

• She shared that on June 8, OSD will host a webinar with the Women’s Business Center in Delray Beach. OSD will also have a representative presenting at the 4th annual Women Veteran Conference June 9-10 in Orlando.

• On July 27, OSD will present during the Southwest Florida Government Contracting Symposium and on July 28 OSD will present at the Polk County Minority Vendor Day.

• On August 16, OSD will host its third FSU Wednesday Workshop series.

• The Supplier Diversity Day in collaboration with Broward College will be held on August 25th.

• On September 28, OSD will present during the UF Small Business Workshop in Gainesville.

• During the first week of October, OSD will host a Tallahassee Supplier Diversity Exchange.

• On November 2, OSD will host its second Orlando Supplier Diversity Exchange.

• The final event of the year will be the fourth FSU Wednesday Workshop series on November 15.

Council Chair/Vice Chair’s Update

• Chair Gonzalez is looking forward to working on the annual report.

o She asked that photos be emailed to Director Reynolds. She also asked for any award announcements be sent to Director Reynolds as well.

o Committee Chairs should send their recommendations to Director Reynolds.

o Contact Director Reynolds if you need any copies of previous annual reports.

Commentarian

• Shaumbe Granger, intern with Florida Association of Minority Business Enterprise Officials (FAMBEO), delivered a short report for Michelle Andrewin, who is currently the President of FAMBEO

• FAMBEO 2017 Spring Training

o Focus on disparity studies and provide audience an understanding on what it means in South Florida and in any community.

o A Strategic Alliance: Memorandum of Understanding between the Small Business Administration and FAMBEO was signed. This is an acknowledgement of the common mission between SBA and FAMBEO.

o Chair Gonzalez requested the recommendations for Florida Statutes, Chapter 287 be sent to the Council for a vote to update.

New Business

• Chair Gonzalez asked if there is still a small business enterprise committee.

o Julius Davis explained that the committee is no longer in place.

• Chair Gonzalez asked if the capital program is still part of Enterprise Florida.
